After you have cleared all the obvious stuff aka; bar hole, oil outlet, etc, look inside the oil tank to find the oil pipe and screen, if they are intact and not clogged the "O" rings on the adjuster are bad. If not clean the little screen and replace the oil pickup tube, yes they are still avalible. It's a bit tricky but can be done through the oil fill cap hole.

SOURCE: Makita DCS51018 Chain Saw Oiler

Before you tear apart and purchase a new oiling assembly. Remove the sprocket cover, bar, and chain. Above the bar studs there is a horizontal groove the oil should flow from. If it is packed with sawdust clean this out. After cleaning or it is clean start the saw with all of the items removed. You should see the oil flowing. If there is no oil the oil pump is bad or clogged. If it flows your bar is clogged. Clean the oiling hole on the bar and groove. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: chain oiler

Saw dust has clogged the passage way in the bar. take the bar and chain off and clean the groove where the chain runs, also near where the bar mounts to the saw there are holes in the groove that intersect with cross holes in the center of the bar, push a paperclip through top and bottom.
If this works for you please leave a rating, thanks

SOURCE: Can't get the chain oiler to work. Using standard bar oil.

You can always put some penentrating oil in the saw oil tube by the bar, spray it in with the plastic straw attatched. Sometimes this will clean things out. As far as the tube being un attatched,,,, taking case apart is usually the remedy - kinda takes a while... :) Hope this helps you, Rick.

when you say that you changed the gear, was that the plastic one?check the other gear that is on the pump itself.make sure that it isn't worn.then make sure it spins freely.if it doesn't that will be you them has never worked for me.........just replace it and the plastic gear.with both being new you should have no problems with oiling.the little pump gear gets scored up inside and they stop spinnig fast enough to work properly.hope this helps let me know if you have any questions

SOURCE: Trouble with Poulan 2150 Chain saw automatic chain oiler

Thanks, guys. Right, I do fill it partially now, but it's annoying. Oh well, there is no simple way to restrict the line - I have disassembled the unit and one would only hope the designers would think about a simple device for adjusting oil flow, but there is none. Primitive, since oil will flow at very different rates in cold and warm weather...

Chain slipping

Resistance through the guide bar may be too much for the clutch assembly to cope with. Trust you have plenty of chain oil running through the chain and guide bar. If not, resistance will increase creating heat and eventually smoke, ultimately permanent damage to the parts. Ensure the oiler is working.

Sounds like you have a blocked oil pump. With the flow regulator fully open and no cage filter on the end of the oil intake hose its probably pulled through dirt and blocked the pump.
