Interceptor float tip

If you use interceptor floats and find them hard to see at a distance try drilling the top the diameter to take the width of a float and insert the top of an ordinary float into it with a bit of superglue it only needs to stand out from it about 22mm because if you make it too long t will tip over sideways. You will find it will stand out and you will be able to see it at a distance.Make sure you pick a suitable colour that you can see.

SOURCE: Whirlpool dishwasher float 'assembly' model-DU810SWPQ2

Enter your model number into a site like partselect.com to get a parts diagram for your dishwasher so that you can see what the part looks like. The float just extends through the base to close a micro switch so the dishwasher shuts off the inlet water valve.

SOURCE: turn off 05 equinox daytime headlights

You can turn them off with the headlight switch, rotate it counter clockwise. You will have to do this every time you start the vehicle. Thank our government for this one. There is also a relay in the under hood fuse block DRL relay. Pull it, but be sure your low beam head lights still work with the switch. Good Luck

I am currently doing a carburetor rebuild on my yamaha and I am trying to adjust the float height, but I am having trouble finding the clearance

this is a rule of thumb for carbies where the float is pivoted from the top cover
with the float in position turn the top upside down and the float will now be in the position it is in when controlling the fuel
the float top should now be close to parallel to the top cover it is attached to
if you manage to get a measurement for that distance it is measured by the specified measurement as a twist drill and it is to move under the float as you roll it along the top cover
not to move it up or miss it but just touch it
adjustment is by bending the small tang that is connected to the needle
now if such a measurement is not available simply ask your service dealer what it is

Tip

Float valve overflowing on a motorcycle

My Yamaha wr250 was leaking fuel out of the overflow badly. I cleaned the seat, changed the valved, adjusted the level. Nothing worked. In the end, it turned out the seat was damaged due to age. Yamaha did not sell a new seat for it, you have to buy a new carburetor. Here is a tip that is easy to do to resolve it provided you have already replaced the float valve, adjusted the float level, and cleaned the carb.

Items needed:
a small tube of lapping (valvegrinding) compound(Available at your local auto store)
1 can carburetor cleaning fluid.
About 5 Q-tips (If your float valve seat hole is bigger than a normal Qtip, you can purchase oversize ones at any drug store)
High speed drill

remove the carburetor, bottom bowl, float, and valve.
Put one Q-tip at a time in the drill
Apply a dab of lapping compound to the end of the tip(about twice the size of a b.b.
Stick it in the float valve seat and letter rip for about 10 seconds. The Q-tip will take on the shape of the float seat and lightly polish the seat smooth again. You might want to do this a couple of times the first time to ensure it takes.
Once you are satisfied that all scars are removed, take a can of carburetor fluid and spray out the seat. Ensure that all the lapping compound has been removed.
Put the carb back on. Try out the bike and see if you can get it to leak. If it does, repeat the process. I had to do it about 5 times to get mine to completely stop.
Final Note. This tip is provided for people that have already replaced the float valve, adjusted the float level, and cleaned the carb. If you cannot purchase another seat for your carburetor, without buying a new carb. this beats that hands down, but I strongly suggest you do the first three steps first. Anything goes wrong, your not out anything anyway.
Ride hard, or stay home.

How do I adjust the float?

normally there is an adjustment but you will need a workshop manual to find what that adjustment is
if it was ok before repairs then it will be ok after repairs
however the check is to turn the top of the carby upside down and there is a measurement between the float and the top of the carby
it is usually measured by the width of a twist drill moving between the float and the lid
adjustment is by bending the tab of the float that the needle touches
a quick check is that if the float is parallel to the lid then it will be close

How do i adjust the float on an autoline 2 barrel c8114a carb?

if the float is attached to the top of the bowl (cover) the invert the cover and measure the distance from the cover to under the float. There will be a dimension and it is measured by the use of a twist drill that is that dimension. Bending the tab on the back of the float will be the adjustment.. Some have a plug in the side of the bowl that you remove and adjust the needle and seat height until the fuel is at the threads of the hole.
