This solution provide some simple tricks on how to diagnose this problem, if encountered that only test mode showed on the LCD screen display, you may try to replace a new battery on the device. If after changing the battery doesn't fix the problem, you may refer to the solution below for it shows the certain components that needs to be remove or replace to fix the problem.
Try to remove or replace the ESD protection diode. This components were composed an ESD protection diode and a capacitor and it result to test mode problem if being damaged.

If you have a big red circle with a white X in it, indicates that you have a serious problem with your unit:
1) Try a 'hard reset': while the power is on, stick a small (tooth/match) stick through the hole under your unit base and opposite to were the USB connector go, for a few seconds, remove the pressure on the stick will cause a complete system reboot if possible.

2) If above does not work, connect to the computer, use Windows Explorer -> Properties -> Tools > Error-checking to scan and repair any problem with your Tomtom drive & check if you still have a problem.

3) If above does not work, and this is usually the solution for 'big X error', use TomTom Home to restore from a previous backup followed by a device update while connected online.

Issue The product cannot receive a fax, but it sends faxes successfully. All other functions work correctly. 1. On the product control panel, press the Setup button ().
2. Press the Right Arrow button () to select Tools.

Solution two: Test the receiving function Follow these steps to make sure the receiving function works correctly.

1. Makesure the originator of the fax has the correct fax number for yourproduct, and then ask that person to send a test fax to your product.Watch the control panel display and listen to the sounds the productmakes.
2. Review the results of the receiving function test:
   • If the product receives the fax correctly, you resolved the issue. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.
   • If the product does not ring or does not answer the call from the other fax machine, ask the originator of the fax to send the test fax again. If the second try fails, go to Solution eleven in this document.
   • If the message on the control panel reads ' Answering' and does not change to ' Connecting', the product is not detecting the other fax machine. Go to Solution eleven in this document.
   • If the product rings briefly, and then stops, another device answered the call. Continue to the next solution to continue troubleshooting.

Solution three: Check for conflicting telephone services Many telephone companies offer services that prevent unwanted calls. The following services might block incoming faxes:

• Voice mail
• Privacy block
• Security screen
• Anonymous call rejection
• Privacy manager
• Any other service that screens or intercepts incoming calls

If any of these services are on the telephone line connected to theproduct, contact the telephone service provider for its recommendedsolution. A distinctive ring service, if it is available from the telephone service provider, often resolves this issue. Solution four: Use an analog phone service HPdesigns Fax and All-in-One products to work with analog telephoneservices. These products might experience some difficulties whenconnected to phone lines with digital services. For best faxingresults, connect the product to an analog telephone service.
