Tried all the troubleshooting solutions, still no results.
This problem can be caused by the label roll not seated completely in the connector. Reseating the label roll with the power on does not solve the problem, the printer must be off when reseating the label roll.
Ok,mthe solution is "Shift+Del" and "format and page".
In case anyone still runs these old LS8E/Qs (god help you) the error "Tools too big" is from having too many characters per line for the label you are trying to print to. A common one is for cable wraps.
1. remove characters from each line until you are back within limits
2. use a larger label size ¯\_(?)_/¯
3. reduce the size of the font
4. increase the terminal space
For the official record: you do not have to have the printer off to hot swap labels. If its an older LS8E it will shut down automatically or the newer LS8Es and LS8EQs will simply prompt you whether you want to start a new page file.
