Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

GE Model JGBP35BEA9BB

The oven will not come on in the GE gas stove that we have. The house is only a few years old and the appliance is like new. The oven has been working up until yesterday but now the stove top burners are fine but the oven will not start heating up. The electronic control panel will allow you to select Bake and select a temperature but when you hit the keypad to start nothing happens, no clicking, no gradual increase of the temperature, etc. The GE manual doesn't give you much other than calling their service guys. I read something on the GE site that discussed "re-setting" of the electronics by unplugging the stove and plugging it back in. Is this adviseable and could it hurt anything else? I presume this could also be an oven ignitor problem?? Thanks for the help! __ Larry I have Ge Profile XL44 stove and it has the same problem as the person above me has. The top burnners work but the bottom stove part does not work. You can turn the stove on and there is no clicking noise or sound nothing happens it never gets hot.

You might gain access to the burner area and then using a small wire brush and some forced air, clean the area where the pilot lights and heats up the thermocouple. This is mostly the problem with these units.
To reset the electronic you just need to unplug the unit for 1 hour
Good Luck

Its the valve ignitor problem and its advisable to remove and recheck it if your r familiar with this but much advisable to get it repaired by a technician as its dangerous if not fitted correctly .

I would advise unplugging and then plugging in the stove to do the reset...before calling repair man...it will be the first things he does, and if that is all it takes, he gets paid anyways...

I turn on the stove and it lights and then it dies, then it won't turn on anymore. The other pilots don't turn on either. It worked this morning and when I came home this is the problem I encountered.

Ok, now that I know it's natural gas, what I would like for you to do is fire off the other gas appliances (furnace, water heater, etc) you have in the house to see if you having a similar problem with them as well. If so, you may may a regulator problem (at the meter) and will need to contact your gas co to replace or repair their equipment. If not, and the problem is isolated to the stove only, then you may have a defective appliance regulator, which supplies gas to all the burners on the stovetop and the oven. How old is the stove? Is it still under warranty? If so, you can call G.E. and have them service the stove for free.

My GE XL44 Gas Range (Model JGBP34 GEP 1A) control

If you like the stove and it in good shape otherwise, have it fixed. The parts are still available. The stove in good used condition (without leak) is probably worth $75.00. May cost that much to repair it. Will cost approximately $450.00 to replace it with equal range. If it's a standing pilot model (no electricity needed) they are unavailable and your new range will require power to use the oven. Hope this helps.

I just moved into a house and the GE oven appears to be approx. 16 years old. The oven will not cook between 300 and 450 degrees. It will either undercook or burn the food.

16 Years old? Sounds like you need to buy a new one. One thing you don't want to do now is to start putting lots of money into an old appliance.

Oven takes FOREVER to pre-heat

You probably have a bad heating element. Trip the breaker and make sure that all power is removed from the stove/oven. Remove the element, and test it for continuity. If it tests open, obtain a replacement from an appliance parts supply house. If it tests good, you should suspect either a bad switch or thermostat.

There is nothing fancy about how the gas controls work on this unit. Do all burners give you the same problem? If so, it could be a kinked service hose or a service valve that has been partly shut. If it is limited to a single burner or two, the valve may be gummed up and should be replaced.
