My son's Gateway GT4016 blew the MB. I built him a new computer and now have the Gateway GT 4016 case and some components and would like to use it, but the MB is on the right (from the back) side. What motherboards will fit in this case? Can I put a left side MB in some way?

It should have them already on your restore partision I would go to device manager go the ethernet net card uninstall it restart the comp it should tell you it found new hardware and then tell it to look for the best driver for it
Certainly could...when all else fails check the case. I had an issue like this with my last computer. Turned out to be the case. A friend of mine had the same issue and his turned out to be the video card...it was drawing more power then his PS could handle. Either way it sounds like your on the right track.
Check your monitor on another computer. If it is ok connect it to your bad computer. Open the CPU case and unplug all the data cables and power cables to HDD, floppy and cd/dvd. Remove keyboard and mouse. also remove pci cards if any. You didn't mention about video card. I guess it is onboard. Now put it on an see. If nothing happens blame the motherboard.
it could be an electrical problem, but maybe not from your house. power companies sometimes have power surges that can fry a computer. if you go to any walmart and buy a surge protector, it should cure your problem, please note that there is a surge protector that offers a $10000 guarantee, so should you computer fry again turn that into that company that made it and get a new computer.
