Question about Gateway GT4016 Desktop PC

Compatible motherboard for Gateway GT4016 Case

My son's Gateway GT4016 blew the MB. I built him a new computer and now have the Gateway GT 4016 case and some components and would like to use it, but the MB is on the right (from the back) side. What motherboards will fit in this case? Can I put a left side MB in some way?

Thanks

I may not have been clear on my question. Facing the case from the rear the MB is attached to the right side panel so that the expansion slots are on the lower right corner of the MB if you look into the case with the left (from the rear) panel off. The ATX MB's are attached to the left side panel so they don't seem to fit in the case.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

that case takes a micro BTX board only! I am having an issue
finding a btx board with the 939 socket I need for the AMD
processor as I ruined to original board while attempting to remove
a jammed video card. If you find one let me know.

Will a msi kt4v motherboard work in a gateway gt4016 desktop

The Gateway GT4016 is a 6-Bay Micro uBTX Case and the MSI KT4V is a ATX motherboard. Therefore the Motherboard will NOT fit in the gateway Case.

This is Serial ATA, or also known as SATA,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA

Uses this style of SATA data cable, and connector on motherboard,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SATA_ports.jpg

(NOTE* Color does NOT matter for cable connector.
Color really doesn't matter, for a SATA connector on the motherboard, either.

You are supposed to plug the Primary SATA harddrive, into the SATA 1 connector, on the motherboard.
The beauty of SATA is, that you can plug into any Ol' SATA connector on the motherboard, that you want to.

BIOS will find the harddrive with the Operating System on it, and will find all the other SATA devices plugged into the motherboard, too )

You do NOT have SATA.

Gateway 4016 will also not boot.

Certainly could...when all else fails check the case. I had an issue like this with my last computer. Turned out to be the case. A friend of mine had the same issue and his turned out to be the video card...it was drawing more power then his PS could handle. Either way it sounds like your on the right track.

Gt 4016 when I finally can get the button on, the fan runs for about 15 seconds then shuts down.

May be your motherboard is defective or else cpu temperature is high. try to see it in the bios by pressing delete botton or F2 in the startup and goto to the hardware monitor.

Gateway gt4016 problem

Check your monitor on another computer. If it is ok connect it to your bad computer. Open the CPU case and unplug all the data cables and power cables to HDD, floppy and cd/dvd. Remove keyboard and mouse. also remove pci cards if any. You didn't mention about video card. I guess it is onboard. Now put it on an see. If nothing happens blame the motherboard.

it could be an electrical problem, but maybe not from your house. power companies sometimes have power surges that can fry a computer. if you go to any walmart and buy a surge protector, it should cure your problem, please note that there is a surge protector that offers a $10000 guarantee, so should you computer fry again turn that into that company that made it and get a new computer.
