Question about Cisco WLS G BROADBAND RTR-54MB PER SEC W/ 4PT SWCH Router

Getting my Gigabyte GN-WBKG to connect to my Router

This particular wireless adapter has been tested to work with another router, so I know it is OK.

The router I have works with a laptop, and an Xbox adapter, so I know it is working.

The problem I have is when I plug it into either my laptop, or a desktop, it will see the netwoork, connect, and then disconnect 3-5 seconds later. It repeats this over and over.

I have all the latest driver updates. I'm using WPA security, and the passphrase has been verified. What do I try next

Is your lan card supports Giga? If not, this is the cause of disconnection, some routers does not supports older version of hardwares and softwares. If you have latest version of software on the routers, you should also update the driver of your Network Interface Card. Giga does not support a 10/Half-duplex interface, 100/Half-Interface but does support 100/Full-duplex or 100/Auto, you can check if your Network Interface Card is properly configured to these by doing these:

1.) Right click on "My Network Places" desktop icon.
2.) NIC Properties
3.) Configure
4.) Advanced
5.) Media Type/Speed and Duplex

I lost my network security key for Gigabyte GN-B41G wireless router - I need to add another computer to my home network.

Connect with your existing computer (either wired or wireless)

  • click start
  • click run
  • type CMD
  • type ipconfig and press enter
  • note the default gateway address (should be something like for example)
  • etype exit and press enter

  • open a browser
  • enter the gateway address in the address bar i.e. as per the above example
  • This will take you to the login screen for the router or the setup screen in the router
  • you may need the login details for the router (if you don't have these then try the factory defaults for your router type, which you can get with a quick google search)
  • You can then find or reset the wifi key on the WiFi section of the configuration pages.

(note if you can't get into the router you can do a factory reset, HOWEVER you need to make sure you have all the broadband user account settings to attempt this)

hope this helps
