How to remove, inspect and renew zanussi td183 motor brushes

When turned on machine makes a combined hum, buzz and rapid clicking sound but drm does not turn. Drum is stiff to turn by hand so broken or slipped belt not suspected. First suspected cause is worn out brushes. Second guess is a sticky solenoid (assuming that one serves to power motor on and off for reversing motion). Third guess is possibility that problem is something to do with reversing control. Haven't really got a clue and don't even know how to access the workings of the machine. Please can you help? Video or diagrams would be particularly helpful.

no problem with motor or control board. fault is with the motor capacitor only. this is often attached to the motor or near it. the value of the capacitor will be printed on it (usually about 8uf) and you should be able to source from an electrical spares shop

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 electric dryer drum does not turn

Yes it should turn by hand and may be easier one direction than the other. It could be as simple as something stuck in the blower preventing the fan from turning. This also stops the motor from turning. Worst case is a froze bearing on the motor but I would pull the fan cover off and see what is in there.

Let me know what you find as I have found some very interesting things in the fan over the years....

Washer filles with water then buzzes

hi Timothy.
  1. Blocked Drain Pump: An object has lodged itself inside of the drain pump. There can be items such as a small sock, a coin, a toothpick, or something small in your clothes pockets when you wash them. These items can fall out of the pockets and end up in the drain pump causing it to become blocked and make the buzzing noise you hear. Here is an audio recording of a blocked drain pump. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this problem is to take the washing machine apart and open up the pump and remove the object causing the buzz sound. To find directions to take your specific washing machine apart, do a Google search for Make and Model of your washer.
  2. Motor Coupling Broken: The motor coupling has broke and the motor turns but nothing happens. This will also cause a buzzing noise which can also be described as a vibrating noise. To fix this issue you will need to take the washer apart. Here is a video to show you what to look for if your washer motor coupler is broken. Once you know that the motor coupling is broken and needs replaced, we recommend ordering the part online. Simply do a search for "washing machine model motor coupler" and you will find the part needed for your specific washing machine.
  3. Washer Drive Block Loose or Worn: The washer drive block is not tight or has worn out. The part will need to be replaced to fix this problem. Here is an audio clip of a worn washer drive block to help you to diagnose that this is your actual issue. To further assist you with this issue, here is a video to show you how to replace a washer drive block.
  4. Worn Agitator Dogs: When these are worn, you will hear a clicking or crunching noise. These small plastic parts are used to turn the top of the agitator in one direction. This pushes the clothes down to the bottom part of the agitator to be washed. Here is what your washing machine will sound like when the agitator dog ears are worn. To replace these, order them online (about $5 bucks) and then install them in your washer. Here is a video to show you how to remove and replace washing machine agitator dogs.
  5. Washer Motor Burned Out: This may result in a buzzing noise depending on circumstances. The way to tell a bad motor is a distinct burning smell. This usually means your washing machine is old and the motor has died from old age. You may need to start thinking about buying a new washing machine. if that is not possible, you can buy a new washer motor for around $100 and install it yourself. Here is video showing how to remove a washing machine motor.
or try this.
Drain hose: If the washing machine is functioning correctly but makes a hummingsound while draining, there could be a problem with the drain hose. ... Then unplug thewashing machine and turn off the taps supplying water to it. Unscrew the fill hoses from the water valve.3 Nov 2014

Why Is My Washing Machine Humming? -
Based on your details, I would first check the drain pump to see if it's locked up due to a piece of clothing stuck inside the pump. You can remove the pump from the motor leaving the two hoses attached and then see if the motor will start. If it continues to just hum instead of starting, then it may be losing the start voltage. The motor needs start voltage and run voltage in order to start. The motor will just hum if it's not getting the start voltage.  The start voltage circuit is usually the red and yellow wires. Check the yellow and red wires at the motor, capacitor and at the timer for a loose connection. Make sure the red and yellow wires are pushed in all the way at the timer terminal quick disconnect plug. 120 volts should be present when measuring across the red and yellow wires. Check the white wire with the black stripe too at the timer and motor.

Hello I have a Zanussi TC 7102 condenser tumble dryer which has suddenly stopped working. It now makes a noise that sounds like it is about to start turning - except that is doesn't turn.

Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

Zanussi washer washers, drians but will not spin

The transmission is belt driven so carbon brushes cannot be the issue. most likely it is a slipping or loose belt remove lower rear panel and check belt tension also check condition of the belt. In order to shift into spin there is a solonoid that activates the transmission you should be able to hear it click. if it just hums it may need replacment.
