Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

My Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWW will not finish a full cycle.

We have to push the start button repeatedly to get it through rinse and spin cycles.
There is also a growling noise when the motor starts turning the tub.

We have a similar problem on the same washer only with the Growling noise coming from the washer as it rolls the Tub in both directions, could this be the Tub roller bearings or from the Transmission/ drive belt system ?
    Thanks

I had the same problem. I called customer support and they had me shut off the water supply, disconnect the hoses from the back of the machine, pull out and clean the screens in the hose either by rinsing with water or soaking in vinegar. Apparently minerals and "stuff" builds up and the sensor senses not enough water coming in and shuts off. I was skeptical but I tried this and I can now complete a wash cycle in less than an hour. Hope this helps

I had the same problem. I called customer support and they gave me these instructions:
Shut off the water supply to the machine, disconnect the hoses from the back of the machine. Pull out the hose and pull out the little screens and clean them with water or soak in vinegar. I was skeptical but did this and the results were amazing. Apparently if the screens get even a little "gunked" up (my screens really didn't look that bad) the machine senses the change in water pressure coming in and shuts it off. Hope this helps!

I swear im glad i found this site.... i purchased a used mah4000aww... hardly used.. the first cycle went fine, then it would just quit as it filled with water...i could advance the timer and everything else was fine... i read where they recommended changing the inline filters.. i was skeptical as was the other person who replied to this post... i went and bought 2 50cent inline filters and this machine hasnt missed a beat since.... i've ran everything i could and every available cycle.... the filters did not look all that bad at all, i would have never believed that would be the issue till i read the solution section of this site.... again the symtoms are when it's time for the machine to fill with water, it just fills and fills, the water just goes right out the drain hose and the machine goes back and forth, then the on light goes out and it stays locked.... totaly thought it would be the dial or the mother board....

My machine has recently started not completing a full wash cycle and seems to stop before the rinse and spin completion. It also shows a "nf" in the digital readout. any ideas?? Of course I cannot find...

Look carefully at supply water. sometimes hoses are reversed, dad wants to save money and turns off hot, but water is needed to finish rinse cycle....turn on both taps and test again.

Washer not finishing it's rinse/spin cycle

Run any load - large or the least bit bulky (like sheets) on the "BULKY" cycle. It takes longer, but the machine completes the wash. This shouldn't be the way it works. I love the Neptune TL for its retro look and lack of Maytag's classic big cranky knob. Too bad it runs like ****.

Strange growling sounds on rinse and spin cycle

I would check the motor control board located near the floor on the right side for burnt components. The motor is a 3 phase unit and if one of the phases are working the motor will growl and won't be able to supply the proper torque.

See www.neptunehelp.com for disassembly photos and for more info on the faulty door latch wax motor.

Maytag neptune won;t rinse

Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.

Check for low water pressure. Clear screens in inlet valve. Do-not remove screens. This unit will turn off if not filled in specified time.
