Question about HP OfficeJet 7410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

HP Officejet 7410 noisy carriage

This printer has all of a sudden started to make squeaking or rubbing noise as the printer carriage moves across the page.

This began after I went through a series of "cartridge alignment" and "Clean cartridge" excercises to try and correct a printing issue.

Is there an easy solution?

The issue  is with the hardware of the machine itself so basic trouble shooting may not hepl to get rid  of the unwanted noises.

I think the the printer u r using is out of warranty with Hewlett Packard!
So u may not get a hardware support from them!
    They have an upgrade option!
call them up and ask for upgrade!
they will give u upgrades at a reasonable price,
even u can bargain at the price as they will be refurbished printers
which are as good as a new machine!
u can call them toll free at 1800  474  6836
ask for upgrade with a discounted rate!
make sure that u know all the prices of the printers they provided u as an upgrade!
    It may help u!
    Thank u!

It say carriage jam

Hi friend,

What probably happened is that paper jam caused the carraige alignment sensor to get out of place or to get covered, moved, etc and the printer doesn't know what to do...

What I would suggest trying is, unplug the printer, try pulling the carraige out to the center and then close it and plug it back in, see if this kicks it enough to reset itself.

Thanks,

Ink cartridge doesn't move - can't replace cartridge - the machine just doesn't want to start.

I had a similar problem and called HP. The tray under the ink cartridge wouldn't retract, the carriage would try to move then stop, and I couldn't move the carriage or lower ink tray by hand and couldn't get my ink cartridges out. They indicated there was a malfunction and suggested I take it in for repairs or upgrade to a new printer. I decided to buy a refurbished machine for less money then I think they would charge for repairs.

Carriage jam - Turn machine on, get carriage jam message, however the carriage can move freely if moved by hand. If I close and hit enter, carriage sounds like it's moving, then I get the error message...

Sorry about the B.S., you can move the carriage by hand, and all you need is to clean the encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage assembly. You can wipe the strip gently with an alcohol swab or a Q-tip moist with alcohol. The bars on that strip tell the carriage where it is and grease or ink on it will give the carriage jam error. No calibration necessary after moving the head or cleaning the strip.

HP 7410 Poor printing, carriage jam message(fake), loud noise

Check the plastic strip that you'll see along the carriage track. Make sure it's clean. Take a soft cloth and dampen it. Run it up and down the strip and make sure it's clean. If there's any ink on it, it could cause carriage jams. The strip has tiny lines on it which tell the electronics where the carriage is. If the strip is dirty, you'll get jam messages and sometimes the carriage will slam against one end or the other.

i believed this issue is on the mechanical side of the printer.if the grinding noise is very noisy if you still have the warranty of the printer you can go ahead an ask for the replacement of the printer coz it is an issue with the mechanical part of the printer..
