If you have a hub at home, you can connect both ur PC and IBM 380Xd to the HUB first. But it has to go through wires. not wireless.

The system is too old to be upgraded that much. however if there is a spot on the bottom for a wireless card to be install you might be able to do it but i think its too old for it

I was not given the key to unlock the Thinkpad docking station from the machine. Aside from going all the way back to where I got it and beating the living hell out of the ********* clerk, what can I do?

The easiest answer would be to call a locksmith. They should be able to either make a knew key for you, or at least get the thing unlocked. We use to use these docks at work and the keys got lost often enough that they stopped locking them down. IBM might also be able to get you a replacement. My suggestion would be to call IBM first, if no luck there call a locksmith or attempt to pick it yourself if you've got the skills for that.

Best of luck to you mate!

I can't connect to wifi. it doesnt allow me to search for any networks. it works perfect when ethernet cable is plugged in to the laptop.

To connect to your router using wireless then the wireless card in your computer needs to be configured with your router's wireless settings.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

I have Lenovo Thinkpad R500 laptop, when I poweron the laptop, lights all lights flases on and then off altogether. The laptop is only a month old to the day of purchased.

First, check the AC cord where it plugs into the AC adapter. Sometimes it gets loose there.

If that isn't it, take the battery out of the machine and see if the machine will power on when just connected to AC. If so, try putting the battery back in.

Ethernet cable un plugged

Hi,

If your wireless router has a strong connection then is your Laptop trying to connect to the correct Connection. Sounds like your talking about Fixed ethernet connection?

How many connections have you created in the "my networks" area?

Let me know,

Thanks.
