Maytag dryer wont turn off

Model # is med5600tq0. timer wont advance in timed or auto dry, will not advance in fluff either. I have an ohm meter, but not sure what to check. The dryer works, just that you have to remember to turn it off, or it will run forever. dryer does turn off when opening door, or when you manually advance timer to off.

SOURCE: kenmore gas dryer model 76812690

Hi

I believe that everything else is fine rather it is the the thermal fuse that is located inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct that is bad and should be replaced. If you want you can test this fuse for continuity and if bad replace it as it cannot be reset. If the fuse is fine then it can be due to the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: dryer timer will not advance

the timer will need to be replaced if it's stuck in the mode as you stated. the timer is built with cog teeth gears that rotate slowly as the timer operates normally. If a cog tooth breaks off the timer is stuck in that position causing your problem here

My maytag atlantis gas dryer will not turn off at the end of the cycle

Dryer will not shut off:

The timer: Located in the control console of the dryer the timer consists of a small motor connected to a series of gears that rotate cams, which turn electric contacts off and on inside the timer. The timer contacts control the dryer motor as well as the heat circuit and the timer motor itself. A defective timer motor or a defect in the timer's electrical contacts can cause the timer motor to fail and the timer will need to be replaced. The contacts can be checked for continuity with a multi-meter. This test should only be made when the dryer is unplugged. Another test u can do is observe by eyesight and see does the timer advance or is it stuck on one cycle?

1. On gas and electric dryers that have an "Auto Dry" cycle, the cycling thermostat is often used to advance the timer as well regulate the drum temperature. Essentially, thermostat will alternately turn on the heat source or the timer motor when the temperature has been satisfied. To check this thermostat, you will have to check for power to the timer motor with a multi-meter, during a cycle. This is a live voltage test and caution should be used.

2. Some dryers will use a cool down thermostat to tumble the clothes without heat, at the end of the dry cycle. Power is routed through this thermostat to the drive motor to keep it running until the drum temperature has dropped to a specific temperature. If this thermostat fails it can cause the drum to turn indefinitely or until the door is opened. You can check the thermostat for continuity with a multi-meter. This test should only be made with the power removed from the dryer.

Lastly check the moister sensor for OHMS according to ur schematic as it must show a certain amount of ohms as per ur unit. When unit has been on short while

Hello, Yesterday my dryer stopped heating and the timer stopped advancing at the same time. Any suggestions?

Hello,
If the timer doesn't advance on the auto, dry setting yet it advance on the timed dry setting regardlee if it heats or not the timer is fine and not advancing due to not heating and not problem with the timer. The not heating is probably going to a broken heat element it was the most common thing on the Maytag dryer from that Vintage of dryers. To check it UNPLUG DRYER remove front panel by removing the two phillips headed screws from the lower part of panel by that sligh step back in the panel. The heater will on the right side of the base frame in a tube.On the leftside of that tube will 2 wires that go into it remove those,3/8" socket to remove the brass nuts, use a ohm meter and place each lead on were those wires went and check for around 30-50 ohms,if the meter displays OL the heater is broke, This youtube vidoe will cover some of what i have already went over and show you how to remove and restring the heater, pause it at the 1:30 mark for a real good of when restringing how it is snaked through as shown the in video the part number is Y133538 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or on line at ;repairclinic.com assuredparts.com apdepot.com appliancepartspros.com

Good luck,i hope will help you to fix your dryer,

Dryer will not heat and timer switch isnt wrkn.

IN THE AUTO DRY CYCLE IT WONT ADVANCE IF ITS NOT DRYING,MOST OF THE TIME ITS A BAD THERMOFUSE, YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE FRONT PANNEL ,AFTER REMOVING THE POWER,THE SCREWS ARE THE ONES HOLDING THE HINGES TO THE FRONT AND THE ONES HOLDING THE PLASTIC COVERS OPPESIT THE HINGES ,THEN THE WHOLE FRONT PULLS DOWN. YOU SHOULD SEE A WHITE PLASTIC SENSOR WITH TWO WIRES USE A OHM METER TO SEE IF IT IS OPEN IF SO REPLACE IT AND CLEAN YOUR VENTING.

I have a roper electric dryer model # rex3514pqu. The dryer doesn't heat at all and the timer will not move, it stays where I set it. What could cause this problem?

If you have a TIMED cycle, the timer should advance heat or not. In the AUTO dry cycle the timer will not advance without heat. Unplug the dryer. Remove the rear panel of the dryer and check the heat element, relays and thermostats with a volt meter set for ohms. No reading indicates a bad part. Remember to remove at least one wire from each component before testing.

Kenmore dryer timer will not turn.

Bad timer motor if you are using timed dry.
If using auto dry probably a bad sensor.
Verify by using any time dry or air fluff cycle and see if the timer moves.
