System keeps rebooting

I work at a school and we have about 8 acerpower fh series computers that i am having this problem with. they load to the desktop but then once they get there they reboot. they seem to work fine in safe mode. i have done a system restore and it didn't help. i have checked the fans and they seem to be working fine. i have also checked the ram and it seems fine. this issue just started today and what stumps me is they are all doing the same thing. we are networked at the school but for program purposes only. they all connect to the internet seperately and have their own ip addresses. they all have avg 8.0 network edition, ad aware 2008 , and spyware blaster 4.1 installed on them. all are updated and working properly. any suggestions on things for me to check? thanks you in advance

well i wouldn't say they are doing it at the same time because if one is started before another the timing is off. but it is happening at the same spot on startup. as soon as the desktop loads and all the icons are loaded it reboots. does this help?

We have 8 brand new Acer Aspire M1610s running Vista and AVG 8. All Ok at home where we set them up, took to local community class room and they randomly fail to boot, sometimes taking 3 or 4 goes to get them up. We have been suspecting a temperature problem as the school room is v cold overnight and they seem to boot OK when warm. But I shall now have a go at removing the eLock to see if that is the problem.

Take out AVG8. All four of my Win XP Acer Power M8s, and none of my other PCs, did this today. l I rebooted in Safe Mode and took out AVG8. Now installing only the AV component (I have AVG8 SBS) as I suspect it could be a firewall component, which is typical in my experience of AVG!

Update: Have reinstalled AVG without the firewall component but it's doing the rebooting behaviour. I''ll now install bare minimum AV (without webshield/link scanner etc) and post back.

OK, another update. have installed AVG8 SBS with only Antivirus and Remote Administration and it's still playing up when I reboot the machine to test.

Looks like AVG doesn't like some component of the Acer for some reason!

OK, solved. AVG got back to me with an email that states that their latest definitions could conflict with "E-Lock Digital Signature and Encryption Software" commonly installed on mobile computers. Mine aren't mobile but this is installed on them. I removed it, reinstalled all of AVG and it works fine. Wish I'd know about this prior to uninstalling AVG it as I could have just gone into Safe Mode and removed the "E-Lock" software!

Ok, here may lie the problem, its probably an issue with one of the updates from MS.
Disconnect one of the PC's from the network, boot into safe mode and uninstall SP3 and the Video drivers.
After you have done that boot in normal mode to see if the system still restarts
Post back with the results please

Good luck

Hello, Mine is Acer power Series. HD Realtech Audio driver is installed. But no system sound. I can listen to mp3 players through headphones though.. Plz help me

Is the audio speaker showing up in the taskbar? Has the Microsoft HD audio driver also been installed? Most times with the Realtek, you also need that driver from Microsoft as well. Its called a "High Definition Driver"

Acerpowerfh keeps turning on and off rebooting why?

it does sound like a boot virus problem. you need to boot into system restore. to boot from the restore partition you need to switch on your pc and repeatedly press either F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Alt+F11. you do this until you see the system restore starts. you will be able to fix windows, or you can do a desturctive restore and restore your pc back to factory settings, but you'll loose your photos and anything saved on the hard drive.

Boot your PC into "Safe Mode" (tapping the F8 key on boot to get to the option) and run a full/complete Virus scan with Anti Virus with up to date virus definitions and see what that yields.

System keeps rebooting when it gets to the desktop

The problem is actually with eLock2FSCTLDriver.sys. So if the eLock program is uninstalled in safe mode, as it is crashing out the network initialisation, then the system will reboot as normal. It has no interaction with the AVG program, and this is official from AVG, and is a problem between Acer eLock and MS updates. Jon.

I'm a PC technician who worked on this exact problem today. Tried everything: ram tests, hard drive tests, looked for bad driver installs, tried everything I could think of and every diagnostic disc my company has. Our solution involved services that ran during normal mode, but not during safe mode. Which service you ask? AVG. We uninstalled it during safe mode, rebooted, and bam. It worked. It may have something to do with recent updates to AVG, but it only happened to this Acer. My Toshiba laptop and our company's Dell's are okay. Try uninstalling AVG: It may not be your particular solution, but it was ours for this comp.
