If it will only run on full choke you have an air leak somewhere

SOURCE: how to adjust a 9460897 mtd snow blower auger

On the handle end (usually) of the cable is a curved metal connector. Attached to the connector is a threaded rod with a nut. Attach a pair of pliers to the threaded cylinder that the threaded rod goes into. Loosen the nut. Turn the threaded cylinder into the threaded rod to tighten or out to loosen. When you have the correct adjustment, tighten the nut back down onto the cylinder. To be correctly adjusted, pull the cover off the auger belt and push down on the handle. The spring attached to the cable at the pulley end should stretch out when the handle is fully depressed. Spring tension keeps the belt tight. iaff801.jpg

I have a 5/24 mtd 2 stage sniw blower.it runs with a little choke on and augers spinning. But when i hit snow it dies out

if you can only get it to run in choke , then you have some problem that is keeping the proper amount of fuel flowing , id say most likely inside the carb pathways , Ive had great luck cleaning out carbs with some automotive fuel carb/injector cleaner added right to the fuel tank and let it run (even in choke ) after it heats up the cleaning will begin

I HAVE A TROY BUIT SNOW BLOWER WITH A HUAYI CARB . IT WILL RUN ONLY AT HALF CHOKE .I HAVE CARB APART . CAN NOT GET FUEL METTERING JET OUT IAM SURE IT SCREWS OUT. HOW DO I GET IT OUT?

Why do you need to remove the jet

You can & should be blowing brakleen
& air thru all the holes

The fact you need the choke partially closed-- tells you something

Your creating higher air velocity,so check for a vacuum leak
(failed gasket) on intake side

May have a failed head gasket also

Engine start to run rough and shot off after 3-4 minutes running

Possible solutions:
You could have water in your gas if so a $3 additive will unfreeze and eliminate this which will cause rough idling. If your carb is clean make sure to let the blower warm up for several minutes, take off the choke as it warms and it will run smoothly. Last if those dont work, adjust your carbs mixture setting screw (when the engine is warm). (and check your oil! Hope this helps.

My yardmachine snow blower 8hp auger won't turn. I replaced the cable and belt but it still won't turn. What else could be wrong?

Check the auger shear pins replace if necessary with correct parts(not regular bolts).
If auger and the impeller are not turning your cable is out of adjustment.
If only the auger doesn't turn, and the shear pins are ok then the brass/bronze gear has shredded which is why proper shear pins must be used. Donyboy73 on youtube show how to replace that gear on an older but similar MTD affiliated blower.
