Trouble with complete restore on eMachines W3619

I've been trying to perform a "factory reset" on an old eMachines desktop that I've had for about 6 years. It has Windows Vista Home Basic and a recovery partition. I've tried using the restore function through the start menu to perform the full restore, and it fails. I am also able to access system restore through the boot menu by using the F10 when prompted, but the complete PC restore still fails. I have the operating system disk but none of the other disks that came with the machine, and I would greatly prefer not to order a recovery disk from the manufacturer. Can anyone offer any guidance on this?

May be you can try to fix the issue by software, and restore your system by a recovery disk. Windows Boot Genius may be available to you.

SOURCE: vista is stuck in a startup loop where recovery

I feel your pain. The first thing I'm going to tell you is no matter how smart you are don't let other people know about it. Keep that good will, " I can take a look at your computer" mouth shut because (this is from many years of diagnosing and repairing other people's computer problems), you have no idea what has been done to it before you get it. Worst then that they don't even know what they did to it. "Well I was driving three states away when all of a sudden this blue screen appears and said I violated a chipmunk or I was violated by a chipmunk, I'm not really sure but hear it is. See you when it's fixed in ten minutes..
It's like explaining how to fly a plane to someone who's never seen or heard of a plane.

Ok forgive me for I digress.
Since there are to many steps to list here try going to the site listed below.

SOURCE: still trying to restore my emachines comp. tried

This error can show up during installation of the operating system either via the hard drive (the restore feature is located on the hard drive and shows up as a drive letter under My Computer) which indicates that you have bad memory,
OR
You are installing from a DVD or CD, in which case it could be either bad memory or a bad disk.

good luck

SOURCE: is there a system recovery disk for the emachine

If you bought the computer new and did not receive a recovery disc with it then the recovery software can be reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer.
The steps for re-installation:

  • Restart the computer
  • When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  • When prompted with a boot screen, hit the Enter key.
  • After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.

If you bought the computer used try the above method. If that fails then it came with a recovery disc but you didn't get it with the computer. The only thing you can do is contact eMachines support for help or purchase a new copy of Windows and reinstall it with that.
I hope this helps. If not and you need any help with reinstalling a new version of windows please let me know.

SOURCE: I have this T5048 Emachine and its been great for

Hi There,

As a general rule, when you're in the booting up phase right after the power button is pushed, you'd push the F2 key quickly and repeatedly intul you saw what's called your BIOS Settup. SOmetimes it's the Escape key or even the F10 11 or 12 key.

Using one of those, once you see the BIOS you'll be in an area where the mouse doesn't get used any more. You navigate around with the arrow keys. You want to find the BOOT ORDER selction by searching among the tabs you see, scroll to it using the arrow keys and when it's highlighted follow instructions on how to enter the BOOT ORDER.

Then, following instructions you'll see, change the BOOT ORDER to start with the CD?DVD and follow directions on how to Save and Exit.

Once you exit the BIOS your computer will boot normally and you should let it, and insert the Recovery CD while it's on. Then, Shut Down Windows properly.

Now, press the power button and as soon as you see a message on a black screen in white letters saying, "Press any key to boot from cd", hit a key and your recovery disc will run.follow the Recovery CDs prompts and make the choices you want to restore.

After that, just follow the prompts and make the choice you want to restore the system.

Best Regards,

Marcus

Restore back to factory settings

If you don't mind loosing everything on the hard drive, restoring the system is fairly easy.
Locate your disks that came with the computer. In there, you should find a disk either for Vista Home or a restoration disk. Place this in the drive and reboot the computer. You may have to press a key like F8, F10, etc, during the very first startup screen to boot to the disk.

You should be able to follow on screen instructions from there.

It looks like you'll have to either return it or perform a default factory recovery. These instructions are from their site but proceed knowing that this will erase any data that is stored on the primary partition (meaning if you have anything on it, it's gone...). Esentially it resets it to a point as if you just picked it up in the store (which you did.. :( )

How can I restore my computer with the backup discs I created?
With user created backups you are able to restore your computer to the factory default settings. If backup discs were created instead of factory restore discs, these can be used instead and will restore the system to a user backup point.

How can i perform a factory restore on my emachine w3619 without my start up disk..my computer will not load my sims 3 game and it used to be able to i tried everything (including system restore) to fix it

ask emachines for duplicate dvds of your startup disks.
your os is Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
any copy of that would work, but you wouldn't have the cyberlink or other software

before doing that
you may first try checking for viruses or startup programs
and then reinstalling any game software

maybe your sims is broken. verify that it works on another machine

F11. every manufacturer has a magic little button to push. E-Machines uses F11. When it first starts up, press F11. There won't be a prompt for it, just keep tapping the F11 key until it asks if you want to do a system restore. it should bring you to a factory restore utility. Don't forget to back up all you data first. When you do the restore, it erases all your saved data.
