Question about AcerPower FH - P4 631 3 GHz (S6463624) PC Desktop

2 Answers

I have an acerpower fh series and it keeps rebooting when it reaches the desktop. it does fine in safe mode. i have done a system restore and it didn't help. i have checked the fans to make sure they are working properly, checked the ram and not finding any problems with them. i work for a school and we have 8 of these acers and they are all doing this and it just started today. the first thing that came to mind was the av 2009 virus but i am not finding any sign of this on the machine.

Acer Power reboots just as described by kwillis abd the problem started today , 26th

  • kwillis Feb 06, 2009

IT IS AN AVG ISSUE BUT IT IS ALSO AN ACER ISSUE. ACER HAS A COUPLE OF PROGRAMS LOADED THAT DON'T LIKE AVG. ACER E LOCK AND ACER EMPOWERING TECH. ONCE THOSE PROGRAMS ARE DELETED AVG WORKS FINE. I HAD ONE OF THE ACERS THAT AVG NEVER WORKED ON AND I USED AVIRA. HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE REBOOT ISSUE WITH THIS ONE.

I'm a PC technician who worked on this exact problem today. Tried everything: ram tests, hard drive tests, looked for bad driver installs, tried everything I could think of and every diagnostic disc my company has. Our solution involved services that ran during normal mode, but not during safe mode. Which service you ask? AVG. We uninstalled it during safe mode, rebooted, and bam. It worked. It may have something to do with recent updates to AVG, but it only happened to this Acer. My Toshiba laptop and our company's Dell's are okay. Try uninstalling AVG: It may not be your particular solution, but it was ours for this comp.

Try 2 go safe mode again. be sure you have an updated antivirus anti spyware n malware n pls turn off system restore if you can. you may have a virus on your pc. if this doesnt solve the problem you can remove the hardrive n try 2 scan it on another computer.

It turns into blue screen with white texts and from below, its says terminating (memory-something) and has a countdown... and reboots itself. computer: Compaq Presario PC SR5050NX

Its probably saying memory dump and the countdown. This is mostly encountered after some kinda change on the pc. It can be new hardware, software or just plain windows update. Lots of times it ends up being a corrupt driver. Try to boot in to safe mode and see doe sit still do same thing. if not than you know it is software related and you can do system restore. To boot in to safe mode on reboot keep on tapping key F8 and choose safe mode. Once in safe mode if it works go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools and choose system recovery. choose like a week back and click next and this will do a restore to when pc was working, fine. If you cant boot into safe mode it is possible it has issues with hardware and this should be checked out by a pc repair shop. Another option you can try if same mode dont work try to do same thing on boot keep on tapping key F8 and instead choosing safe mode try choosing Last Known Good Configuration. this is similar to restore. Hope this helps.

I updated my sound driver and now my windows 7 wont start after a rebbot but starts after shutting down

Ok perform a system restore, press F8 at bootup and choose safe mode desktop, when you are asked if you want the safe mode desktop or system restore, choose restore, and when ask if you want restore or desktop choose restore, restore to a time BEFORE the driver up date and follow instructions and reboot, you should be back where you were.Or start up in safe mode desktop, at desktop, go device manager and "Roll back" the driver. reboot, should be OK.

All of a sudden when I turn my computer off then on again I have to reboot my system using my os dics Im using vista

This is unclear. You most likely need to put the computer into safe mode and undo what ever was done. Read this link to get the compuetr into safe mode and the secone one for system restore.

Acerpowerfh keeps turning on and off rebooting why?

it does sound like a boot virus problem. you need to boot into system restore. to boot from the restore partition you need to switch on your pc and repeatedly press either F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Alt+F11. you do this until you see the system restore starts. you will be able to fix windows, or you can do a desturctive restore and restore your pc back to factory settings, but you'll loose your photos and anything saved on the hard drive.

Boot your PC into "Safe Mode" (tapping the F8 key on boot to get to the option) and run a full/complete Virus scan with Anti Virus with up to date virus definitions and see what that yields.

System keeps rebooting

Ok, here may lie the problem, its probably an issue with one of the updates from MS.
Disconnect one of the PC's from the network, boot into safe mode and uninstall SP3 and the Video drivers.
After you have done that boot in normal mode to see if the system still restarts
Post back with the results please

Good luck

System keeps rebooting when it gets to the desktop

The problem is actually with eLock2FSCTLDriver.sys. So if the eLock program is uninstalled in safe mode, as it is crashing out the network initialisation, then the system will reboot as normal. It has no interaction with the AVG program, and this is official from AVG, and is a problem between Acer eLock and MS updates. Jon.
