Can't install DLINK USB on Windows 8?

I recently purchased a new computer that operates on Windows 8. When I tried to install my D-Link USB adapter so I could connect to my wireless network, I get an error saying I need to update my service pack to Win2000 SP4 or WinXP SP1. As you can probably tell, these service packs are terribly outdated and can not be installed on Windows 8. I don't know what to do, any help will be appreciated.

You must use a wired connection to update the drivers
if possible for the usb adaptor
as you don't post the model number for the usb adaptor it may not have drivers written for Windows 8 available

You need to reinstall the drivers for the wireless card. If you give me the exact make and model of the computer I can send you the link where you can download the driver for free. If you need expert help doing this send me an email with your number and I will call you and walk you through the procedure. geokohler@gmail.com I have a BA in Computer Science and I do this for a hobby. I just like helping people so there will be no charges to you at all. Make sure you send me the exact make and model of the computer and ant service tag number or serial numbers to ensure I direct you to the proper driver. It's pretty straight forward. I'll send you the link and you just download the drivers on another computer, place the install file on a thumb drive or cd and run it on the computer in question. Once the proper drivers are installed your problem will be solved. I hope you find this helpful.

Try installing service pack 3. I have found from experience that drivers that were not found with sp2 installed were suddenly located after install of sp3.

Dir-601 doesn't work with windows 8

I don't think it's Windows 8. Connect a ethernet cable fron D-Link to computer. Is your Wireless Adapter Enabled on the computer. Unplug the D-Link, shut down the computer, unplug, remove battery, plug in D-Link , allow it to selftest, plug in computer, boot normally.

D-Link DPR 140 doesn't work with Windows 8?

Hello,

Windows 8 is still new and there are some companies like D-Link which might not have the firmware for their products which are compatible with Windows 8 yet. I tried searching for a firmware for your product and I can't find one.

I suggest that you contact D-Link regarding this issue, they should have the fix for this and I'm sure that a lot of people are experiencing this same issue. This happens when new operating system are produced in the market. http://www.dlink.com.au/corporate/contact/

I also suggest that you install RadarSync in your computer. It's a technician's software. What it does is it automatically updates all outdated drivers in your computer. It works great with Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I hope this helps!

Did you try these drivers for DWA-125?
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwa125/Drivers/dwa125_drivers_120.zip

If your model is DWA-125 RevA2 then you need these drivers for it.
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwa125_revA2/Drivers/dwa125_revA2_drivers_130.zip

Uninstall all the previous drivers/ apps related to your adapter. Download the appropriate drivers above. Unzip/ extract the file. But don't run any installer yet.

Plug in your adapter first cancel the windows new hardware found pop up if it come up. If windows says no drivers found thats ok. If windows finds the drivers and installs it right then great if not then lets move on.

Open device manager. Click on the adapter and click upgrade driver and select find drivers manually. Point it to the folder you unzipped all the files too. And windows should install the drivers this time.

Let us know how it goes..

OK!! I figured it out!! Ok you need to go to the Dlink web site, cursor over to the tech support tab, on the drop down select DOWNLOADS, enter your Dlink wireless adaptor version(you'll need the box for these steps), ok now in the new window click downloads, choose and download the 130 one not the beta version, have a flash usb ready and save all downloaded files to ur usb flash, next insert your usb flash on ur laptop, open my computer select ur removable drive and double click the dlink software, after you do this it should bypass that prompt screen and you'll be able to continue your setup for your Dlink wireless adaptor.........hope it works for you cause it worked for me.....
