SOURCE: Button from laptop pulled off..need quick fix!!!!!!

The pieces snap into place if you place them correctly on the keyboard and press down until you hear them click together. You may need to pry one off to see the orientation of the white plastic piece that goes on first. Lay the piece like the one you just looked at and firmly press the key evenly on top of it until you hear the click sound. You may have to rock it a little to get it to fully engage. If it sticks down, take a paper click and gently pry it up and it should work fine.

How do i prevent accidental trunk opening on 2009 camry

To prevent accidental opening of the trunk caused by an accidental pressing of the "OPEN TRUNK" button on your keyfob, you can pull the cover that hides the wiring harness on the trunk (you can buy replacement plastic retaining tabs at an auto parts store if you break one) and look for the wiring harness. I cut the wire controlling the electronic trunk solenoid and soldered in momentary pushbutton that goes to the outside of the trunk. To open the trunk, I have to depress the pushbutton on the trunk and then press the "OPEN TRUNK" button on my keyfob. I also soldered in a bypass switch in parallel with the pushbutton in case I want to disable the extra security I get by having a pushbutton. It will cost you about $15 in parts (get a high quality, weather rated pushbutton) and about 3 hours of time.

The door ajar light comes on when all doors are closed

Has car been damaged ? A pushbutton in a door well is likely problem. Door is not pushing the button in far enough to open it's contacts therefore, computer reads it as door ajar.
Try taping small piece of plastic or metal (one door at a time) in the area that contacts the pushbutton, Then close all doors. Continue thru all doors to find the guilty one.
It's possible that the pushbutton switches may not be visible (mounted out of sight) and use some sort of lever to actuate.

Wiring a dayton timer relay

If i understand you correctly you want to push the button, release it and have the timer give power to the solenoid for 3 more seconds, correct? If this is the case you will need an off delay timer. On delay timers work like this. You push the button, power goes through the timer, at this point the timer starts counting, when the timer reaches its preset point,(3 seconds we'll say) the contacts change till the power to the timer goes off.

If you hook this up with an on-delay timer this is what will happen:
Push the button and release, the timer will tick as long as you hold the button down, till three seconds, then the solenoid will raise until you release the button.

With an off delay this will happen: push button , solenoid begins working, when button is released timer counts 3 seconds while solenoid is still working, then removes power to the solenoid.

The way you would wire the off-delay is like this:
Connect line side of your pushbutton(incoming power side),incoming power and terminal 1 on your base together. next connect the load side (outgoing power side) of your pushbutton and terminal 2 on your base together. Connect terminal 3 to the hot wire or terminal on your solenoid. Lastly connect terminal 7 the incoming neutral wire and the neutral wire or terminal of the solenoid together.

I am telling you how to wire it in my head, if you'll write back with some specifics such as what wire you will use, where your getting power from, what the solenoid current draw is and such i can get a little more detailed. maybe it will make more sense.

Also make sure the timer and pushbutton are rated to handle the solenoids running current. The timer appears to handle 10 amps im not sure what you pushbutton can handle. Also keep in mind the solenoid will operate for whatever time u set it to, after the button is released. There are other ways to do it but this would be the most economical way.

And of course turn the breaker off and test that it is off before working on the circuit. Write back with any problems.

Pushbutton 4x4 problem.

The module is located behind the drivers side rear wheel "interior" panel cover. Not likely that the module is at fault. There is a small plastic ring that fits around a little metal stud on the electrical plate located on the transfer case side of that little motor that you replaced. If that little plastic ring is missing or smashed then that electrical plate rotates just a little too far and then it no longer touches where it should. Its like the power comes on when you first replace it but never again after that. Take that little motor off again and make sure that plastic ring is intact.

Menu wont work, continuos channel search

Usually, this means that something has spilled into the front of the set and has contaminated the pushbuttons. If one of the channel pushbuttons has fluid in it, the set will just sit there searching for channels and will not respond to any other commands. The computer thinks you are pushing the channel button and responds accordingly. When you push another button the computer does nothing because it thinks that you are pressing 2 buttons at the same time. The board should be cleaned and any contaminated pushbuttons replaced by a qualified tech.
