Question about Samsung WA422PRHDWR 4.2 Cu. Ft. VRT Top Load Washer

2 Answers

Error code of NF (no fill) on samsung top load washer (WA422PRHDWR/AA) even after checking lines for restrictions and ensuring clean line filters (red and blue). Now, when it does work, it will only do a rinse cycle, not a full wash and rinse.

Thank u Countryman for the first "common sense" answer. My husband fiddle with the hot and cold water valves and after 3 hours determined he had turned the cold water valve OFF == hence -- we were getting nf code on the rinse cycle because it only uses cold water. Wow - this machine is a lot smarter than we are!

Put the temp select switch on HOT, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. If there is water flow switch to COLD, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount should be approximately equal or slightly more than flow on HOT. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. Move selector to WARM, start machine. Now there should be twice the flow of water than there was with HOT and COLD temps. I suspect it is the HOT side of inlet water valve that has failed because machines usually rinse with COLD water.

checked as suggested above. discovered that on hot cycle, only cold water entering tub. no hot entering maching. touching inlet line shows no warming up as would occur if hot water was entering. if inlet valve is not working can it be reset or must it be replaced. this washer is 2 months old.

Well you do have the option of just washing in cold. The manual suggests that you cap the hot water side of the valve and select the TAP COLD option. But i don't know that it would hurt to leave the hose hooked up in place of a cap. I gotta say though if the HOT side is out i'm surprised any water came out at all. I take it the hose carrying the hot water is slightly warm to the touch. You might try turning off the HOT tap and loosening the connection at the machine. Wait for the hose to relax before unscrewing too far. If it doesn't relax STOP retighten and let me know. After removing the hose check the screen condition in the end of valve. Those screens can become fouled with lime and other debris. Use a toothbrush and a spray bottle to remove crud. Hold the end of the hose over a bucket or in the tub of washer and turn on TAP until HOT water flows. Check the pressure, it doesn't have to blast out of there (but it likely will if you turn TAP too far, so be careful) still it has to be more than a weak flow. If the screens are clean and if there is a good flow of HOT water the water valve should push hot water into the machine if it doesn't it is defective and will need replaced. BUT, before you do that you should try one more thing. Make sure you UNPLUG THE MACHINE FOR THIS! Open the console and disconnect and reconnect every wire connector you see. If a connection doesn't pop right off just give it a good wiggle. The goal here is to verify that connections are good, so reseat what you can and wiggle the rest and give wires that go through plastic connectors a slight push from behind the connector. Then plug the machine back in and give it a try.

I actually just fixed one of my own machines using the last method mentioned last Friday. No water entered tub and machine went immediately to agitating. Opened console wiggled wires (took about a minute) tested the machine and it was back to normal. So it happens.

On the other hand if you want HOT water there is no reason you shouldn't have it. Look at these: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p... It's an easy do it yourself fix.

SOURCE: Samsung washing machine nf Error code

Here is the best troubleshooting manual i've ever seen. It's PDF:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201106/20110628141933509/WF350AN-Tech-02834A-02.pdf

I found it here:

NOTE: If water is not entering tub, you almost certainly need to replace the water valve. If water is entering tub but won't fill your drain pump is suspect. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: samsung silvercare washer stopped working, won't unlock

here is the most common cause for this problem, according to the Samsung repair guy that was here to fix mine today.
On these washing machines it is possible for some debris (in my case it was a small screw from my packet) to make its way passed the drum and into the pump. Once this happens then the impeller of the pump becomes restricted or completely blocked which will result in the above mentione symptoms.
On some machines the pump is on the front, on others at the rear of the machine. In my case it was at the rear, removing the rear panel will allow easy access to it. Have a bucket ready, when the hose is removed from the pump the water will be draining from the machine. 3 bolts and a hose clamp on the inlet and another on the outlet hose. Disconnect the electrical plug from the pump and you can remove it from the machine for cleaning. A very easy job, requiring little skills and not much in terms of tools. (make sure machine is UNPLUGGED from AC outlet)
Remove obstruction(s) from pump and reinstall in reverse order of disassembly. The guy says these pumps are really tough so if you hear it buzzing, trying to go while it's jammed it's a good sign it will work. If not, replacement will be necessary.
Cost me $140. Could have been worse I suppose. Advise: Empty pockets BEFORE washing clothes...

SOURCE: Washer keeps displaying '4E' Lack of water error

If you have pulled out and cleaned the filter at the back of the machine where the hose connects then I would check that your pump is not running during the cycle and also make sure your drain line is at least half way above your drum at its highest point, If its too low then it will drain off even if the pump is not running.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung VRT front load washer, it was

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

First is to empty the water out. This can be done by following my (complete) general guidance notes below for checking the drain motor lint tray/filter and the motor.
'nf' means NO FEED and what happened afterward indicates that the water feed control valve is malfunctioning, initially not opening for water to be fed but then sticking open.
So follow these notes, particularly those in capital letters, to find how to empty the washer, and to check the state of the filter which is needed on a regular basis anyway ;-0)
Next will be a call to a service engineer to sort out the suspect valve.Sorry ;-0(
-------------------------------------------------------------
I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Good luck!
John C

Getting a nf error

that is a no fill error code. If you are on a well system, pull off the cold water hose on the machine side, and see if the screen inside the valve itself, needs to be cleaned. if it doesn't need to be cleaned, replace the valve.

Can I get a list of error code and what they mean and how to fix. I keep getting nF as an error. What does this mean?

It means 'not filling'. So either nor or both of your water lines are turned off or just barely open, or the filter screens on your hose washers are clogged. Clean/clear them, or check water flow and you should be good to go.

Error code nf

The nF error means that the washer isn't filling properly. Make sure that both the hot and cold water inlets are getting water flow. (You can get all cold water washes by connecting the hot to a second cold water line.) Make sure that you have opened the shut-off valves for both inlets to the washing machine. Check that there is sufficient water pressure on both inlets. You need 20-116 psi (pounds per square inch). Use the Samsung supply hoses. Some flood safe hoses may not work (even if new); when damaged, they can completely restrict the flow of water to the washer.

Take off the hoses. Check the filters both on the shut-off side and just inside the washer and clean then of any foreign objects. This is a good time to double check the water pressure at the shut-off valves (have a bucket under the valves.) Replace the inlet hoses if they are more than 5 years old.

Check that the drain hose is not lower than the water level in the washer. This can trigger suction causing the water to flow into the washer and straight out to the drain.

Make sure that the door of the washer is tightly closed. Then press the Start/Pause button.

If the error continues, the failure could be at the washer's inlet valve, the sensor that checks the weight of the drum + water, or the wiring or wiring harness to either one of these items. The computer control board can also fail to "hear and respond" to the above. If you have water in the drum with the nF error, start checking the sensor. If no water flows into the washer, check the valve first.

I hope this helps.

Error nf code

That code is the no fill, or no water code. Either one of your water valves isn't working properly, or the lines have sediment restricting the volume of water which in return will give you the nf code as well. What I would do is turn the water to the machine off and remove the water lines and make sure they aren't filled will calcium, etc. and look in the water valves where the hoses connect because that are, which has a screen, may be full of nastiness. If both those are good somewhere inside the body of the machine is a tech guide which will tell you how to go into diagnoistic mode and run test on every part of the machine to narrow down the actuall problem.

The NF error codes stands for no fill. This is usually caused by hard water deposits in the fill valve screen. Youl will need to disconnect the water lines to the back of the washer and clean then out thoroughly. This should solve you problem, please rate my response if it helps you:)

I got an NF code today when I went to do laundry. We recently had a three day power outage and have sediment from the well still coming through our pipes. Could this be clogging the fill line? How do I...

NF means "not filling". This means that either there is no water getting to the machine or it's at too low a pressure.

Given the information regarding sediment it strongly suggest that the water inlet filter is blocked. Although I'm unfamiliar with your exact model, you will usually find that when you unscrew the flexible inlet hose from the spigot on the back of your machine there will be a gauze filter inside the spigot. Remove and clean it and consider fitting an in-line external hose filter to the inlet hose. Before refitting the inlet hose, ensure that there is a good strong water flow through it.

If I've made the correct diagnosis you should find that the code has gone when you reconnect your washer and turn to both the water and power supplies and turn it on once more.

If not, then please report back for alternative suggestions.

Please take a moment to rate my answer.

Samsung VRT washing machine

nF means that washer tried to fill but was unsuccessful. Water supply valves needs to be fully open. Lines may be kinked or screen by the hose hookup at the washer end may be restricting flow. Check to ensure the screens are cleaned by removing hose and pull screens and clean them then try the washer again
