After entering my password on the Quickbooks login screen, my company name and Quickbooks 2005 shows at the top but is sort of grayed out and absolutely nothing can be accessed. I am not even able to minimize or exit. The only way to close it is through my windows task manager which says the program is running and that it is waiting for a response from me. Suggestions?
I saw this same problem on a client's computer. BelgianAlien's analysis was correct... problem was an advertisement. Thing was, we couldn't *see* the advertisement because the window wasn't maximixed. Note that you only get those ads *after* you log into your company file though! Aha! So, what I did was click cancel when it would request the password for the company file. Without that, it can't log into the company file (and pop up the ad) and then QB prompts you for where to find the company file. You can maximize the window now, log in, kill the advertisement, and go about your business.

Access your router by entering your IP address into the IP address tool bar at the top of the page. The linksys address is 192.168.1.1.You will be prompted to enter the user name & password. Enter admin for user name and admin for the password. It will probably update firmware automatically and you will now have unrestricted access to the system's utility software including change of password.
Boot holding down the Option Key, Select Recovery Mode, when you select languish, click Windows on the top menu bar and select Terminal. Once Terminal opens, type resetpassword. You will then see a pop up window. Select Hard Drive, select USER that pops up in login screen, change the password, click save, then restart. Once your in the login screen, type the new password and your in. For all other locks (EFI / iCloud) go to www.iunlockefi.com
The error -6000, -80 typically occurs when you are using your company file over a network and its data is either converted or restored. To resolve this error you may use "QuickBooks Company File Diagnostic Tool". In a case if you still have issue with accessing your QuickBooks file then you can try a third party QuickBooks Recovery tool to repair your corrupt file. QuickBooks repair software
There can be a couple of causes for this:
1. You are trying to open a different company file than you typically work in ( search the system for *.qbw, there may be file located in different folders)
2. A portion of the database may have become damaged.
If the database is damaged, you would need to have data recovery run on it to fix it. The problem is that you are using v 2003, which Intuit no longer supports. They only way they may fix it is if you are updating to a newer version, such as 2009.
One other thing you could try is to make a copy of the file, and see if intuits free password removal tools can reset the password.

To solve this, first be sure that you don't have the Cap lock on and retry the ID and password.
If that isn't the problem and you still can't open the file, QuickBooks offers a password reset at their website if you have a current backup. The page walks you through the process step by step. You will need to have your license number and also you need to verify that your contact information is on file with them.
