Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK DVD Recorder

1 Answer

I have a DMR EZ48V. I was copying a vcr to a DVD last night, and it suddenly shut down. I believe there was a fault in the DVD disk (it has happened before). The machine shut itself off and began an endless routine of zeros marching across the display. I shut it down by holding the off button for 10 sec. but it started up on its own with the zeros. I tried to reset and the zeros kept marching. I could hear the disk drive start and stop. I tried to turn it off and then insert a cassette trying to get the machine to fully turn on but all I got was a flashing HELLO message and then back to the zeros. I've tried to eject the disk which is probably the source of the trouble but neither pressing the eject button or the alternative solution will open the disk drive. Meanwhile I have no TV because the signal goes through the unit and will only display a picture if the unit is fully on. How to I open the disk drive manually?

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. ....

SOURCE: Panasonic dvd/vcr DMR-EZ47V model.Code OOOOOO keeps going across.

You must manually hold in the on/off button on the machine itself (NOT on the remote) for approximately 30 seconds. This will shut the unit off. Then you can restart it.

Message appears unable to decode HD channels

DMR-EZ47V and EZ48V models do not feature a built in HD digital tuner - it is only SD - hence the reason it cannot decode HD. It is a model/design limitation; not a fault.

Check Panasonic.com for Firmware updates. If it has a reset button reset it. Take off the cover remove dust and lint, also clean laser eye with rubbing alcohol. DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE LASER LENS IF YOU PLUG IT IN, DURING THE OPERATION.
