Question about U-Line Icemaker

2 Answers

The problem; water drips from beneath the ice maker inside the cooling area. This water eventually freezes and turns the whole ice maker compartment into a block of ice.

I have the same problem in my U-line .BI 98 ice maker. Very annoying. Plumber came to stop the leaking water and since he did not "repair appliances" he thought it was calcium build up,, but was unsure how to fix. The solenoid controls water to the tray and has to be level to work right. Lines are suppose to be self cleaning, but if turned off/on calcium builds up and causes this problem. Will advise after "repair guy" arrives

Technician diagnosed it as a bad water inlet valve aka solenoid. Replace it and problem solved.

Which error e1 of hoshizaki ice maker fm-170ake

E1, means low ice production
Ice machine cycle takes to long to call for a harvest. When this happens it should shut the whole unit down and then show the error code. Reset power supply, Turn off then Turn on the machine. Check for these problems. Gas leaking by the hot gas valve when in freeze mode, this valve should only let hot gas by when it is in a harvest mode. Check water control valve to make sure it is not letting water in during freeze cycle. Check water float switch to make sure it is not stuck calling for water during freeze cycle. Also make sure the machine is not in a hot location, the hotter the ambient surrounding air entering the condenser coil the longer it takes to make ice.

My NewAir Portable Ice Maker no longer makes ice. It pumps water up into the resvior but the fan motor never turns on and it does not freeze the water. Why is it acting this way?

is the compressor hot? if so, the fan might be dead. the condenser needs air flow to cool down. if the compressor doesn't even turn on, the starter coil (inside the box on the front of the compressor) may be shot.

Ice maker over flows

Not sure on this brand, but on some ice makers, there is an adjustment for the length of time the water the water runs down the chute. See if the ice maker instruction sheet is in the back of the unit - it may show where and how to adjust the time. Another idea would be to partially close the water valve that goes to the ice maker unit, so less water gets into the ice maker. However, over time, this will mean the valve will leak through when the valve is turned off. Good Luck

Melting ice

The bin has most likely failed. Apparently the bin insulation on the DCE33 eventually gets saturated with water and loses it's insulation ability. Consequently the ice melts prematurely. Condensation starts to build up inside the bin because it's not cold enough adding to the problem as the water drips on the new ice inside the bin.

Mine is 5-yrs old and I was told that it's all the life I'll get out of it.

If everything else is workng properly, harvest time, cube size, cold water spray, then a new bin is the unfortunate solution.

Shawn,
Check you drain system, does the unit retain water inside the unit at the storage compartment? Normally the cooling system will not function if the unit can't empty all the water using and external drain system. Good Luck...

Not making Ice

Is the freezer at least 10 degrees? Is there water in the ice mold? If not put some to see if it will harvest after it freezes. If no water getting to ice mold Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

Ice maker leaks water into Ice bend. When it cycles I can watch it drip water from the ice maker.

not familuar with the brand but sounds like one of 2 issues
if it is overfilling making ice cubes larger than normal, adjust the ice maker fill time if it is possible
icemaker fills and cuts off but water valve seeps water after the fill causing the water overfill
one of the 2
