You shouldn't have to, but some machine manufacturers suggest it. Refer to the owner's manual. If you don't have one give me your model number and i will try to find one for you. Model number is usually on inside of loading door. Are you finding water in the tub after machine has been idle?

washer may not be detecting water temp but water flow ..if you never use hot water may try hooking cold water to a Y-connector and then hooking to both hot and cold inlet valves ..however it is also possible washer is detecting inlet temps in which case you're out of luck ..i suspect the latter

Water underneath unit

Check your water hoses may be leaking behind the machine or at the tap.If the hose is leaking turn all taps off. the alloy crimp needs to be cut off & put a hose clamp on the hose.turn all taps off when machine has finished the wash.

I have a wtw5800swo washer. The washer will complete the wash cycle, but then shuts off and will not enter the rinse cycle.

Be sure to guarantee that BOTH hot and cold taps are turned on. Commonly, the hoses get reversed, and dad turns off the hot water (due to high bills) and the hot is connected to the cold tap, which is used for rinse, so the machine will wait forever for the water...

Washing cycle starts and takes hours even for short cycle.

Try checking for good water supply.
Pull out detergent tray and check for good water supply during filling.
if poor filling-
Try checking the hoses.
Turn taps off, disconnect from machine, place hose end in sink, turn tap on and check for good water flow.
if the hose has a red indicator in the side of the hose (end which is fitted to the tap) - Red indicator is a failed hose.(for models with Water Stop hose type "B")

Westinghouse washer lT609s - tap problem

if I understand you correctly ... your washer keeps filling with water and you must shut them off at the wall to stop the water from coming into it?

this is a stuck water valve .. there may be something in your water valve keeping it open...

unhook your hoses and check them..

hope this helps
