I would double check the capacitors on the power supply board. Make sure you don't have any that are bulged at the tops. Secondly, when you try and turn it on, does the orange light flash at all??

SOURCE: vizio vw42l, the vizio light turns from ornage to

Does LCD screen backlight come on? If so proceed....
USE:CAUTION WHEN DOING THIS....
Try this if repairing yourself...find power supply, small board with no cover over it...check voltages on output pins/plug/connectors (white plugs) three in a row...
1 Plug has 24Volt supply..1 has 12Volt supply and 1 has 5Volt supply when read to ground (screw that holds board in) if you have these voltages it's a safe bet it's the main control board...I just replaced mine and it fixed a problem like yours.

SOURCE: My componet/av only shows black and white on my vizio vp422

The 37" Vizio I just bought has a very confusing feature where the same input can be used as either the Y channel of the component or the full video channel for composite. If you plug a component source into the TV and then select the composite input ("AV" on the remote), you will see a black and white version of the full component signal (makes sense as the Y channel is just the luminance component). As sad as it is, I was stumped by this for a while until I happened to hit "COMP" and got full color. FWIW, the manual warns about this, but it really doesn't emphasize the point. I wonder how many returns they get because of this.

Vizio VP422 won't turn on ORANGE LIGHT PLEASE HELP*

if you plug in the set, and the "Vizio" light isn't orange, most likely you have a faulty power supply board. Tests will need to be performed to be sure.

My Vizio plasma vp422 made a loud pop and went off. Now it won't come back on. U can turn on and the vizio display turns from orange to white but nothing else. Also u can see the little green light in...

You need to get a service manual (good luck) or begin by testing all the marked voltages out of the power supply board at TURN ON.

do any come up and instantly go to zero or very low? That is a clue where you would have to follow up.

VP422 plasma will not hold power If i plug it in the yellow Vizio lights up then fades out

The set is going to have to be taken apart and looked at: a guess would be to start with the main power/power supply board.

MY VP42HDTV WILL NOT DO NOTHING WHEN I PLUG IT IN WHAT COULD IT BE.

Hi if you plug it in at the mains and switch it on and you get nothing not even the standby light then this points to either a fuse been blown so check the fuse in the plug failing that it will mean getting a new power board fitted, now if the telly is more than say 2 years old i would say its not worth getting fixed as the chances are you will replace the power board and then you will start having problems with the inverter, soyou could end up throwing money down the drain.

if its less than 2 years old and its totally dead check the fuse in the plug change it anyway and then give it a try but if its still totally dead then this points to either the fuse been blown in the telly this is a little clear glass fuse located where the mains cable plugs into the main power board, if this fuse is not blown also then the whole power board will need replacing.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Vizio vp422hdtv10a plasma tv will not turn on. Made kind of a real loud click and shut off and will not turn on again. Removed back, fuses don't appear to be blown. Circuit boards don't appear to have any...

Good call checking the fuses first. Next I would try replacing the power-board. If you have a volt-meter you can test it first, but BE CAREFUL as it would require having the TV plugged in.
The power-board is the one with the most large components on it, like transformers (coils of wire) and capacitors (tin-can looking things). The board itself will be much smaller then the main board, and may be the first place the power cord leads to.
The good news is that this is probably the cheapest component in a TV to replace (besides a fuse that is). Check online.
