I am trying to connect a pair of wireless speakers (SPK-VELO-W3) to the TV. I've tried to connect the speaker receiver to the "audio out" of the tv using the white/red plugs in the back of the tv. Nothing happens. Do I need to do some something else inside of the TV?
The wireless speakers communicate to it's own receiver. The receiver plus into the TV. It works on a different TV (and the computer) so I know the speakers are OK. THe TV's manual says to mute the internal speakers- and when we do that- we can't hear anything (from the regular tv speakers nor the wireless speakers)The wireless speakers communicate to it's own receiver. Apperently this tv has a history of sound board related problems. So if you are trying to connect external speakers because you have no sound from the set then you still will be sound-less. On the other habd if you just want more sound then I would suggest using a surround sound system which will readily connect to your set.
Hello The jack you describes here "Digital Ouput Device To" means, you can connect these jacks to the output of a digital device, such as DVD or so. It is meant for to get signal into the TV, not ot out. HDMI [High Definition Multimedia Interface] is a type of connection, which the TV an be connected to any HDMI device from outside. Both the above said are, signal in to TV connections. Not out. If you want to connect this TV to any amp or any other external audio devices; look for any audio out option is there.
You can only get the television to recognize the external audio when connecting to its audio OUTPUT. If it does not say OUTPUT on the television where you've connected the red and white cables between it and the spear bar it is not going to work. You'll have to connect all your devices to the speaker bar with red and white cables and to the television with a yellow or green, blue, and red cable for video.
They are asking you an irrelevant question. What you need is a cable that has a female-end headphone plug on one end and analog RCA red/white (male) plugs on the other. If your speakers have a larger (quarter-inch) plug, you will also need an 3.5mm adapter to convert it to the smaller plug. You then plug the red/white RCAs into the Analog Audio Output on the back of the receiver. Your Denon should have this. If this sounds complicated, you could print this out and bring it to your local Radio Shack. They should be able to help you.
Step 1
Insert the red and white plugs on a set of RCA audio cables
into the right and left audio "OUT" jacks on the back of the TV.
Step 2
Connect the other ends of the cables to a free pair of audio
"IN" jacks on the amplifier.
Step 3
Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the speaker wires, and
connect a pair of wires to the left and right terminals on the back of
each speaker using the red wire for the right audio connection and the
other wire for the left.
Step 4
Connect the other ends of the speaker wires to a pair of
stereo speaker terminals on the back of the amplifier. The wires attach
by raising spring-loaded clips on the back of the amp to reveal a hole
for inserting each wire.
Step 5
Set the amplifier selector to the set of audio jacks
connected to the TV to enjoy stereo sound from the television.
Connecting Self-Powered Speakers
Step 1
Insert the RCA plugs on the Y adapter into the TV's Audio
"OUT" jacks.
Step 2
Connect the mini-plug on the wire attached to the right-hand
self-powered speaker to the mini-plug jack on the Y adapter.
Step 3
Plug in the audio cable and mini-plug from the left-hand
speaker into the Audio "OUT" jack on the back of the right-hand speaker.
Step 4
Connect the AC adapter to the power jack on the back of the
right-hand speaker, then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.
Step 5
Switch on the external speakers and adjust the volume.

I mean "plugs" into the TV, not "plus".
