Well there is no nice On/off switch but if you want to tell windows which microphone to use open the control panel and open ?Sounds and Audio Devices?. Open the Voice tab and at the bottom of that box you should see a section labeled Voice recording. If you have another microphone installed you should be able to use the pull down menu to select it. If you just want to prevent the internal microphone from picking up anything click on the Volume button and turn down the mic sensitivity by moving the slider bar to the bottom. Hope this helps.

On the microphone setup page, it keeps on asking me to say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and I made sure my audio settings were correct in my control panel. i don't know why it's not working!

Check to make sure that you have connected the microphone to a microphone port. Headphone ports are identical to microphone ports physically, however they will not accept audio input. If you have verified that the microphone is connected to a microphone jack and the device still does not work, you may be using an old or low quality microphone which is not good enough to detect your voice. You might need to buy a higher quality microphone. If this is not the case, your microphone may be broken. You can check this by using a recording program like audacity ( to do a test recording and make sure that the microphone is actually recording. If none of the above seem to be the issue, then make sure you are speaking loudly and clearly. Voice recognition software is not always good at picking up your voice and you may need to enunciate your speech more, especially if English is not your first language or you have an accent. Good luck!

Im using acer aspire 4732Z. When i use skype the other person cannot hear my voice? What might be the problem? do i need a separate microphone?

Good day,

I will first want to ask that do your laptop have a built in microphone like that use for speech recognition? If yes, has your skype account been configured to use this microphone? if no, configure that in the settings tab of your skype account.
If your laptop do not have an in built microphone then get a head phone that has a microphone attached to it and configure it in your skype account.

Hi I installed the Rosetta Stone the problem is that not let me use voice recognition. When microphone set out, I follow the steps, I get right, but then you see a box 1129 One or more of the files...

if you changed the default directory for your language installation, it is likely that UACin Win7/Vista is preventing the installation hence missing files. Either run as admin and add language again or reinstall and let it install in its default location

Toshiba laptop Microphone Not working or Non-existant?

Click Start/All Programs/Accessories/Sound Recorder. Click Start Recording and talk to your computer in a normal voice. When you finish click Stop Recording. Type in a file name and click save. Open the file and play it. If it works you have a built in mike, otherwise buy yourself an external, which I recommend anyway, because the built in mikes are generally not good enough for voice recognition or VOIP.

Bsod with dynex dx-28

Most of the time this is a driver related problem. Did you check the device manager to see if the audio device has problems? Try updating the driver for it if you can find a newer driver.
Of course always try a virus scan and spyware scan, as some viruses cause BSOD errors are well.

You can check the event viewer for details, and see if that helps you further. Analyzing the details of the the blue screen error helps to isolate the real cause.

Speech recognation tab is missing

Do  you want to use speech recognition......
there are softwares in the market for that kind of control. anyway the use of microphone does not require the speech  recognition tab
what you should chech is the sound and audio driver and check whether you have the driver  fully installed  check under the voice tab there.
if this help pls tell otherwise please post further comments on your problem.

Speech problems with brain training

it is true,

There are a few Speech recognitions with The first Game, as with any new voice recognition software there are flaws so im guessing it will be the game to blame, this does not meen that there are potential problems with your DS microphone, but the probability is that the problem lies with the poor voice recognition qualities of the game
