I'm assuming this is your Red/White/Yellow outputs which is a Composite connection. On the VCR plug them into the revalent colour coded connectors (Output on the VCR) & connect them to the Composite Input on the TV (again connecting the Red toRed/White to White & Yellow to Yellow). You will then have to select Comp. or possibly AV2as the source on the TV.

Thank you very much for your solution and it worked except the videos are not clear. On the VCR it has the red, white and yeello and on the TV it has only 2 blue for video and 2 red for audio. I put the White into the Video and the Red into the Audio and on the VCR I put the White into the output on the Video and the Red into the output on the Audeo

How to connect Magnavox TV Model CH 3930 AL O2 to VHS player?

Actually, what you want to do is connect the VHS player to your TV. Your VHS player has three output leads: R. audio (red), L. audio (white), and video (yellow). These connect to corresponding inputs on the rear of your TV. Select VCR as the input source to your TV.

My TV is a Sharp-AQUOS Model # LC52D64U, I have 2 DVD players. SONY DVD player Model #DVP-S530D and MAGNAVOX VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER/DVD PLAYER MODEL#MWD2206. Thanks Barbara

Sorry about the delay Barbara, I was looking for your clarification comments on the other question page. I didn't realize that you posted this information here in a brand NEW question box. No problem though, this will work just fine too. I will post the information on both question pages so there is absolutely no confusion.

First of all here are the links to each of the USER'S MANUALS for your particular system components:

SHARP AQUOS TV - MODEL # LC52D64U:

MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER MODEL # MWD2206:

http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/c/cmwd2206_f7/cmwd2206_f7_dfu_aen.pdf

To view the Owner's Manuals with Operating Instructions for each device, just use your mouse to click on the links, which are the underlined and highlighted text just above. Each one of them will open a new web browser page for you automatically and allow you to view the information indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You did not mention exacly what model of DirecTV receiver you have, so first of all, I will just give you the generic instructions for connecting that device to your TV using an HDMI cable connection.

DIRECTV CONNECTION TO TV

Make sure your TV and DirecTV receiver are turned off before making any cable connections.
Now connect the COAX cable from the satellite antenna to the COAX IN jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Now connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Then connect the other end of that HDMI cable to the HDMI INPUT 5 jack on the back of your TV.
See page 10 of your TV's USER MANUAL for a detailed labelled diagram of the rear input connections on your TV.

Here also is a link to a short video which demonstrates this basic HDMI connection procedure:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7P-yayRJ6c&NR=1

If you want to test your system at this point, you can. Just plug in the power cords to the DirecTV receiver and your TV, then turn them both on.
In order to see the output from the DirecTV receiver, you will need to select the INPUT 5 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 5 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the DirecTV Receiver on your TV.
That completes the DIRECTV to TV connection portion of the system hook-up procedure.

SONY DVD PLAYER CONNECTION TO TV

Your Sony DVD player should have come with an S-VIDEO cable and set of RCA cables (yellow / red / white ) included.
Here is a link to a picture of an S-Video cable in case you need to see one:

http://amazingbestsellerstore.tk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/31nOF2e5DXL.jpg

And here is a link to a picture of a set of 3 color RCA cables:

http://www.cameratron.co.za/images/productcables/cables/rca%20to%20rca.jpg

Connect one end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO OUT on the back of your SONY DVD player.
See page 8 of the SONY DVD Player manual.
Then connect the other end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO INPUT 2 terminal on the back of your TV.
Now take colored RCA cables and one end of the red and the white cables into the LINE OUT (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of you SONY DVD Player.
Then take the other ends of those cables and plug the red and white plugs into the INPUT 2 (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of your TV.
In order to see the output from the Sony DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 2 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 2 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the Sony DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc inserted.
This completes the SONY DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.

MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER TO TV CONNECTION

I will describe the connection procedure using the basic 3 color (yellow / red / white) cables which were included with the unit at purchase.
COMPONENT VIDEO cables are also a slightly higher quality option but would have to be purchased by you separately.
Take one end of the 3 color RCA cables and insert the colored plugs into the corresponding colored VIDEO OUT and AUDIO (L / R) OUT connections on the back of the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player.
YELLOW cable plugs into the VIDEO OUT connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the AUDIO (L / R) OUT connectors.
See page 7 of the MAGNAVOX manual, METHOD 1.
Now take the other ends of the 3 color RCA cables and plug them into the corresponding colored INPUT 1 connections on the back of your TV.
YELLOW cable plugs into the INPUT 1 - VIDEO IN connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the INPUT 1 - AUDIO (L / R) IN connectors.

In order to see the output from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 1 mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 1 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc or tape inserted and playing.
This completes the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.
Recording content on the VCR from an outside source will require additional connections which are described in detail on page 6 of the MAGNAVOX manual.

This completes the most basic hook up of your entire system using the cables which were supplied stock with each piece of equipment. As I stated, other options are available for purchase and the instructions for connecting these types of cables are all in the various OWNER'S MANUALS provided above.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Does it matter if it is a old tv, one that has a vcr, can I still connect?

Yes, you should be able to connect using a coaxial cable, connect the cable to the TV using the Coax (IN) input on the back of the TV.

Can't hook vcr to tv

on the back of your VCR there will be a yellow colored port - most likely labeled "OUT" as well as possibly a white/red pair of ports.
The yellow is for a VIDEO hookup, the white and red are for AUDIO hookups.
These ports use what is called an RCA type connection.
Radio Shack, or just about any department store should be able to sell you an inexpensive set of RCA cables.

now on the back of the TV (possibly on the side) you will also have the yellow, white and red ports.

Hook one end of the RCA cable to the colored ports on the VCR, the other end of the cable to the colored ports on the TV.

last thing - the TV most likely has multiple inputs. there is probably a input button on the TVs remote, you need to press that button to cycle through the inputs until you get to the one the VCR is hooked up to.
its easiest to put a tape in the VCR and press play - when you get to the right input, you will see your tape...

good luck

Don't know how to connect my vcr to my tv

You can either plug RCA cables from the audio and video, audio is red and white for stereo or just one of them for mono, the video is yellow, from the "outputs" on the VCR to the matching colors on the tvs "inputs". You can also connect the antenna output on the VCR to the antenna input on the tv and put the tv on channel 3 or 4, if done this way connect the antenna/cable to the VCR antenna in and connect a cable from the antenna out to the tv.

Can hook up my wii to this tv

The AV Multi Out plug that is included with the Wii will allow you to connect the console to most televisions or video cassette recorders (VCR). First, look at the back of your television AND your VCR and see if you have colored holes label "Input". Though most TVs have them, almost all VCRs do as well.
avinputsdiagram.gif
  • Audio/Video (AV) inputs are located on the front or back of the TV or VCR.
  • They are smooth silver posts with the inside showing a color, usually red, white and yellow.
  • Look for inputs marked Audio and Video IN.
  • The image on the left features stereo audio inputs. Some televisions have only one audio input. Click here for help setting up a mono audio connection.
  • Do NOT connect your system to anything marked OUT.
Where do you have these inputs?
Additional Options:

Connecting to a Television
  1. Insert the AV Multi Out plug on the Wii AV Cable into the AV Multi Out connector on the back of the console. setuptvav.gif

  2. Insert the RCA plugs on the Wii AV Cable into the input connectors on the TV. Plug the colored connectors into the following inputs:

    Yellow = Video Input
White = Audio Input Left (or Mono)
    Red = Audio Input Right
Interested in playing your games in Dolby Pro Logic II (simulated surround sound)? Click here setup information.

  3. Once the cables are inserted and the Wii is powered on, you must find the Input Select for your TV to view the game (it is likely not going to be seen on Channel 3 or 4). Typically this is found by pressing the TV/Video button on the Television's front panel or remote control. If you have more than one input channel, keep pressing TV/Video until you see the display from the Wii.
If you do not have a TV/Video button, then the input could be labeled something different. Some other common input selects to look for on the TV or remote are: Input, Input Select, EXT, AUX, or a channel such as 00 or 99.
Still can't find it? We have compiled a list of known input selects for many popular brands. Click here to see our list.

Go to Next Step (Set Up of the Wii Remote) >

Connecting to a VCR, DVD-R, Cable Box, etc.
In order to connect a video game system through a device such as a VCR, DVR, cable or satelite box, it must have Video and Audio "inputs." While most VCRs and VCR/DVD combos have these inputs, other devices typically have "Outputs" which will not work for playing your Wii console. Please verify the device you are attempting to use has these holes.
While many cable/satelite boxes and DVRs may have "inputs," accessing them can be difficult. Please consult the instruction manual for the device you are connecting to, for more information.
  1. Insert the AV Multi Out plug on the Wii AV Cable into the AV Multi Out connector on the back of the console. setupvcrav.gif

  2. Insert the RCA plugs on the Wii AV Cable into the input connectors on the VCR. Make sure you are plugging the connectors into the holes labeled"Input" or "In". Holes labeled"Output" or "Out" will not work. Plug the colored connectors into the following inputs:

    Yellow = Video Input
White = Audio Input Left (or Mono)
    Red = Audio Input Right
Interested in playing your games in Dolby Pro Logic II (simulated surround sound)? Click here setup information.

  3. Once the cables are inserted and the Wii is powered on, put your TV on the channel you use to watch movies (usually channel 3 or 4). Put in a video tape and play the movie. When you see the movie playing, press stop (do not power off the VCR!) and proceed to the next step.

  4. You will now need to find the Input Select for your VCR. This is usually a button on the original remote control that is labeled Input Select, AUX, Input, EXT, Line In, or a high or low channel. For more information on locating your input select, click here.

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

I am hooking up a dvd player with the black and white wires

The most basic hook up you can do is use a composite AV cable(yello/red/white). This cable should have come with your player. Check your TV it has those available inputs. They are also color coded. On the back of your player, there is only one yellow colored jack so there should be no problem in identifying where to plug the composite video cable(yellow). Put the composite audio cables (red and white) to the DVD player Audio Out jacks (red and white). Then plug the other end of those cables on the back of your TV. Just make sure they are INPUTS on the TV and colored the same - yello/red/white.

Then find your TV's correct viewing channel. It is not channle 3 or 4. Depending on the TV brand, it may be called AV, INPUT, VIDEO, GAME, SOURCE, AUX, EXT., etc. To find that channel, you may need to check the instructions on your TV manual. Most of the time, there are buttons on the TV remote control or on the TV itself. Sometimes, you need to go into the TV Menu.
