I'm having the same problem. All that is needed for a quick fix is to unplug the receiver and wait a while and plug it back in. You might have to do the unplug and plug back in a few times and you may have to wait hours but eventually each time this has happened to me I've been able to get it working again. You will find this in the Trouble Shooting guide under Other Information. the problem I'm having is it keeps doing it and can be really annoying. Even the face controls go out and no control of the receiver is possible. For the money you would think it would be a bit more robust. It's acting like a Korean Microwave I bought about 15 years ago.

It will need 2 output transistor replaced. They are attached to the lagre heat sink in the middle of the receiver. Printed on them will be a letter and numbers like A1302 and C3281 the part number will be 2SA1302 and 2S3281 (these are examples) you can find parts online at many sources (I like MCM electronics). This is not a difficult receiver to work on, a bottom panel is removable. The bad pair will be shorted between at least two off the legs.
If you take it in to be repaired $70-$90 would be a fair price.

Testimonial: "Quick response, identified the exact issue and how to diagnose. I appreciate it."
Does the output relay click about 5 sec. after powering on? If it does check if the tape2/tape monitor is on. Check speakers and wiring. Try headphones.
There aren't any fuses for the output.
If no relay then it probably needs output transistors and a few resistors.
