Question about Olympus TOUGH TG-310 Digital Camera

When i attempt to turn my tg 310 it makes a ticking/ringing sound and will not open? Is there anything I can do to repair it myself?

Sounds like another motor drive problem, will need shop repair.

Do you have Windows Live Photo Gallery? It comes with Windows 7, but if not you can download it here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/photo-gallery-get-started

  1. Open Windows Live Photo Gallery
  2. Connect your camera
  3. Click the Import icon in the top left corner.
  4. Select your Olympus and click import. It should import both photos and videos.

You can also try and select the videos you want using the file download module Windows displays when a new device is plugged in. If that doesn't work, try
  1. Start > Computer > Olympus Tough TG-310
  2. Then open the folders until you find the videos you want. Select them and copy them to your desktop (or any other preferred location).
I have had video issues with my Olympus TOUGH (could not delete them from the camera) which turned out to be a formatting problem with the memory card.

My olympus tg 310 is stuck with the lens open and won't come on at all even when a fresh battery is installed
If the camera is within warranty, return it to where you bought it. Common fault with a few different brands, to do with a lens open sensor within the lens assembly itself. Maybe allow the camera to dischage without the battery for a few hours and see does it power on with a new battery. Also chack the battery, if it has bubbled it a dud, and check the battery contacts within the battery compartment.

My olympus tough tg-310 got wet inside with salt water form the beach now it won't turn on please help.
There is very little that can be done, salt water will corrode metal on contact, all eletronic parts have been compromised, if the memory card is still intact save your pictures and remove it from the camera to transfer to new hardware. Replacing the camera unfortuneately is the only option.

My Olympus Tough turns on but immediately starts beeping for 10 seconds then shuts off. It does this over and over.
Your rechargeable battery is no longer serviceable. You need to replace it with a new battery. This camera uses one Olympus lithium ion battery*. No
other type of batteries can be used.
* TG-310: LI-42B
TG-610: LI-50B
Caution:
There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with the incorrect battery type.

Sound is making a ticking sound and the screen is just dark
This sounds like you have had a flyback transformer failure and the ticking could be the protection circuits preventing the TV from starting.
As TV's have very dangerous voltages present internally, take it to your local TV repairman.
It is not worth the risk of attempting this type of repair yourself unless you know exactly what you are doing.
Even if this is a simple failure, those voltages are still present and I would not advise you attempt anything yourself.

olympus tough tg-310 will not turn on i have had my camera for about a year now and haven't used it much at all but i went to turn in on today and it won't, so i went to charge it and it said it had full change but i took the charger out and it wouldn't turn on again. do i need a new battery?
