You can use Internet Explorer with no-addons by going to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Internet Explorer (No add-ons).
There are no except Flash.

SOURCE: Web pages won't load, but internet connection is fine.

Check the Proxy settings in the LAN Connection area.

Here is a document which provides information on the Proxy Settings. You should have NOTHING in the proxy settings. I suspect that you have something that is wrong.

SOURCE: When I open Explorer 8 a window opens which says

You don't have to just go to your control panel, then to programs and features(if you have VISTA) or your remove programs feature. When there click on explorer 8 and remove. Another option which is what i did when mine didn't work was I went to system restore under system tools. Then restored the system to an earlier date before I had 8 and now everything works fine. I have since reinstalled 8 and have no problems at this time. There are a few problems with 8 still to be worked out but it should work fine some day.

  1. Check mouse settings in control panel, see if mouse button settings are reversed. also check the touchpad settings tab, for additional settings there.
  2. Boot to the safe mode (F8 at startup, select safe mode on the menu) see if issue occurs in safe mode after trying step 1. Safe mode eliminates drivers as an issue, so if issue is still occurring, then it is likely a hardware issue.
  3. Boot to the Resource CD and run 32 bit diagnostics custom, on the touchpad see if it fails.
  4. If issue doesn't occur in safe mode, then there may be some serious software issues in the windows installation and it may be easier and faster to backup all data and pic and reinstall windows (or use PC Restore on that system) than to troubleshoot the current install any further.

My Hitachi dmp860 player displays the error message "NO AUTHORITY" when trying to play wma files that I originally ripped from my own cds. Why is this and what can I do about it?

When you ripped them, you probably used Windows Media Player which will add copy protection by default if you don't set otherwise.

Either

- Re-rip as MP3
- Re-rip with copy protection off

It is easier to re-rip than to try to remove copy protection.
