this sounds like a failed defrost cycle..the freezer evaporator becomes encased in ice and the air can'tgo thru it...remove rear evaporator cover and see if the evaporator is froze over. if so, defrost using hair dryer ..do not use anything to poke the ice off....once you get it defrosted, it will work for awhile till the problem comes back...
the most common failures are defective heater or,defrost thermostat, The fan has to be running to move the air thru the coil, so, make sure the fan is running in the freezer. If you have a multi-meter check the defrost heater for an open wire. look at the defrost thermostat and see if you notice it coming apart or the top popping open...if so, its defective...the last thing is what puts it into a defrost. it could be manual timer or an electrical defrost board...if everything else is ok..its most likely the timer or board...
