I just experienced the same problem and came up with this solution. Use a spring clamp to keep the top of the charging stand in place. It works like a charm.

SOURCE: hi, My braun bs 5301 does

Check to make sure that the shaver and the charger are clean. It is not locking in because there is something that is not letting it go down in far enough. You can clean it with canned air.

The top will not stay down for charging

This is a common problem with the clean/charge base for model 7526. The mechanism inside is broken. You can replace the upper housing that includes the locking arm or you can replace the whole system. Both options are available at shaveroutlet.com. See links below

My Braun 7526 will no longer clip into the razor for cleaning and charging.

If the arm on the charging stand no longer locks down into place to charge the shaver, you will need to replace the arm or you can replace the entire charging unit. You will find both items at shaveroutlet.com. Hi, My braun bs 5301 does not lock my braun 7630 shaver in anymore. at the top where it clicks into the bottom of the shaver, its not actually clicking in and now it doesnt charge or clean unless i hold it...

While holding the neck, pull up hard on the charging piece with the blue button.... You will not break it, it will go right back in after...

DO NOT try to remove the whole neck, just the button piece will come up, an inch or two (NOT OUT COMPLETLY) The wire will only allow you to pull it up 1"-2" so dont try to remove it....

Then look inside and you can see a spring, it's not attached to anything it's just resting in a hole. Pull it out and then push the top charging piece back down till it clicks in...

Now it will stay down on its own... I had the same problem and this work around solved it.

Braun won't charge.

I took the base apart and pressed the contacts out so that they can contact the shaver points easier, now it works like new. Turn the base upside down, press in the two clips and pull the inner portion out of the shell. You can now access the two charging contacts and press them or bend them so that they protrude out further. Make sure you unplug the unit and take out the cleaner cartridge before you flip it upside down too.
