If it does it with all discs then the player is dying. If it is just the one disc I would say it is a bad disc. You can also see if there is dirt or grease or fingerprints on the laser pickup lens.

Sound as if the ccfl backlight tube is busted...you may be able to fix this yourself..but getting parts may be a battle...most consumer electronic manufacturers won't sell parts to consumers..you may need to find a distributor for oem parts...one distributor I used to work for and is a Phillips parts supplier is Union electronic distributors( UED.net). Of course you will need to know the part number for the ccfl lamp tube...which you obtain fron the service manual...you may be able to get the part no. from Phillips Customer service....anyway, the lamp should either have a connector on it of may need to be soldered in..either way..it's not too hard to replace...a word of caution though..the ccfl inverter driver circuit that the tube connects to puts out as much as 2000 Volts..so be sure not to touch it while it's on..

No picture on dvd player but can hear sound

Usually this is a bad inverter. The best way to check this is to hold the unit up to a very bright light and see if there is a ghost of am image visible and moving, just not bright enough to be seen properly. This means that the display is working, but the flourescent display behind it is not being powered properly, and most LCD displays require a little inverter board to convert the native DC power to AC to light the backlight. inverter boards are cheap if you can find the proper one for your unit. Unfortunately some units have the inverter board integrated into the motherboard of the player, though that is rare. It should be a separate (and thus replacable) component. Good luck!

Sound works but screen is dark

In all likelihood, your monitor's backlight has failed. It can be fixed, but it will cost a good deal of money to do so. It may be cheaper to just get a new one.

If you want to fix it, take it down to an electronics store, and get a price quote.

I found a broken one listed on Ebay that the screen still lights up and swapped the backlight panel. Works perfect again.

Barely visible picture and no sound

2 things the easy fix would be the screen switch is jammed a little circle next to where the door close you will need to pry the switch out and the second fix (your backlight (inverter) is out (better off buying a new unit)

AUDIOVOX D2011 - SCREEN IS BROKEN / WHERE CAN I GET IT REPAIRED?

Look on ebay, if you still see the video, then it is just the backlight that is broken. Put in your model and add the word parts to your search. Be sure to read if the parts one you are buying has a working backlight.

The LCD backlight has died. If it is still under warranty you may want to contact Mintek and see what they can offer you.

Your unit has a composite output. Hook a standard TV up to this connection and try it. If you have a picture your display on the portable unit is bad. Sounds like you lost the backlight. You would need to have a tech look at this to fix it. Good luck.

Dim screen

This could either be an inverter issue, or a backlight issue. Lamp replacement varies from very easy, seconds, to impossible without returning the entire panel to a service depot. There are some other possibilities (cables, motherboard problems controlling the backlight) but they are RARE. Inverters are relatively cheap (they are not "cheap", but they are still 80% less than a new LCD panel and 75% less than replacement backlight IF you could get it replaced). A new inverter is likely to be in the $50-$75 range. Any difference when working with batteries as opposed to AC? If so then it could be related to a power saving setting. But if your screen is completely dark, only visible with a light flashed at the screen, then that's not it. Good luck post a comment for the result
