Most likely the heads are damaged...at least one of them are. When drives are dropped it's pretty common for them to damage the heads. If Head 0 is still able to read, the drive may calibrate and even be readable to a certain extent. Eventually the damaged heads can make it to where the drive is inaccessible.

Medion How To

Basically it is drag and drop. Plug your USB external drive in. Navigate to the drive and folder you wish to store them and minimise the page. Go to Picasa and right mouse click on the photos you want then when what you require are highlighted press Ctl and C together. Maximise your external drive, select where you wish them to go and press Ctl and V.
Ctl and C = Copy
Ctl and V = Verify or Paste.
Hope that helps.

I got my camera awhile back and I got a new laptop in that time. I don't have the installation cd for camera finepix j10. Is there anyway I can work around that to install my pictures?

You don't need additional software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I cannot download pictures to my pc. I have used the disk and have had success before but it will not work this time

Hi, To download your photos, I highly recommend that you instead consider using a card reader to move the photos or videos to your computer. Card reader's do not require software (although Windows 98 and earlier may require drivers), are very inexpensive, are much faster downloading files from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during the download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download. Really, it would be better for the camera user if one of these was included with the camera instead of the cable and bundled software. You place the camera's card in the reader, plug the reader into the USB port, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For this simplicity, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively.
