Hp ipaq 214 PDA

Sorry can't see where the solution is. The pda sync's okay, but only with top level contacts not sub folders.

On the desktop I have my contacts (in Outlook 2007) split into seperate groups.

When I sync the ipaq it only takes the main contact group. I was told I would be able to see all the contact groups on the ipaq.

    Hope that makes sense.

    avg anti virus.

Should I switch it off during syncs?

    Delete your existing ActiveSync partnership
    Create
a new partnership. This time, only select Contacts to sync (don't
select the other data types). Then sync. Check to see if your contacts
    made it to the IPAQ.

After you've verified that your contacts are on the device, go back and select the other data types (one at a time) and sync.

    After
you have synced all data types, you should be able to leave them all
selected and sync with no problem....at least this is how it works for
    me.

try it and let me know did it help

As far as I know active synch which is the default app, does not support synchronizing subfolders. It is no question of firewall or antivirus, unfortunately microsoft designed it this way. There is a third party application though, Intellisync which is going to enable you to synch subfolders, however they will appear all in one big folder on your IPAQ.

Alternatively it will however take over the settings if you categorize the contacts and that has nearly the same "effect" as if you used subfolders. If you choose to use categories, then you can even keep your normal active synch, cause that it will synch fine. Not a bad thing cause third party applications are never perfect and Intellisync is unfortunately not free. You can add the categories to your contacts even while keeping your original subfolders in outlook, just match the categories to them and it will "look" perfectly the same on your IPAQ but yes you have to edit contacts one by one, so this is a one time big job then.

You could have a corrupted program on your PDA. You need to contact HP and have them re-flash or upgrade the firmware of your PDA and it should work much better than before.

Have a great day!

Won't sync from iPAQ to PC

Sounds like you've got the ActiveSync setting for the Calendar set to one-way from computer to PDA, not Synchronise, which means the computer will always over-write anything it finds on the PDA that isn't in the computer. Try uninstalling/reinstalling ActiveSync, and pay particular attention to all the settings when you reconnect the PDA and it sets up the connection - from memory at this point you can define the "direction" of synchronisation.

try syncing through bluetooth, there could be a problem with the cradle. i have had an issue very similar to yours and had to do a soft reset on my pda. then set up your device to use a blue tooth connection( you may need to buy a bluetooth dongle for your pc).

The blue light means connection (via Bluetooth)I believe and the red light is the power light.

Are you able to transfer between the PCA and IPaq ?
