This is not a user fix, your camera needs to go for repairs.

I am getting a message saying the Curtain Open and I can't get my ice machine to come on?

I didn't think their smaller units had a curtain, but it is referring to the plastic shield that hangs in front of the ice making grid or evaporator. This must be closed for the unit to run and there is a magnetic reed switch located on the bottom right hand corner of the curtain to prove that it is closed. Actually the magnet is in the curtain and the reed switch is snapped into the side of the grid. Make sure the curtain is in place and the magnet has not broken off. If that is in tact look to see if the reed switch is in tight. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURTAIN... some units had a small plastic flapper at the bottom of the grid that was activated whenever ice dropped. Same system though with a magnet and reed switch. The magnets on some of these curtains and flappers were just surface mounted with some kind of adhesive and others have it captured inside of a plastic pocket made into the curtain. So if you don't see a magnet look for a spot where it used to be. If you want to prove this is the problem just get a magnet and hold it up to that spot for about 10 seconds and see if the unit cycles on. You will then have to order a new curtain or flapper or attach a magnet to the broken spot somehow.

Manitowoc Ice machine only makes 2/3 bin of Ice and shuts off

The unit shuts off based on the magnetic reed switch in the plastic curtain on the front of the evaporator. If the ice is not falling as one single sheet with about 1/4"-3/8" of a bridge conecting all of the cubes then the ice is too thin. When the ice falls (in a single sheet of ice) if there is enough ice in the bin to hold that ice up and keep the curtain open the unit shuts down. A full bin may only be what appears to be 2/3 or 3/4 of a bin full because the ice sheet is propped up behind the curtain. If the ice sheet is too thin and does not fall as a single sheet more often than not a single cube or a piece of a cube can get caught between the curtain and the evaporator plate. This can shut the unit down for several hours until that piece melts and the curtain closes again.

We have four Scotsman Ice Makers. The curtains are beginning to turn a little green. What is the approximate cost of replacing these curtains. How much per curtain?

Unless they are terrible you can clean the curtains. What you do is put icemaker cleaner in the icemaker and run it through a cycle. I don't know how much the curtains cost.

Slow sync flash - nikon d40

Set the exposure mode to Manual (M) or Shutter-priority (S) and specify the shutter speed yourself. You'll have to set it sufficiently slow in order to see any difference between front- and rear-curtain.

AaaaaaaaaaaaAFTER TAKING PICTURES IN DOORS WHY DOES IT GET BLACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE SOME TIMES NOT ALL THE TIME?

typically this is a problem with flash photography.
are you using flash?

the speed of exposure, the time that the film is exposed is controlled by two curtains that cover the film and prevent light from striking it. One curtain is across the film at the start, and springs open, then the second which was open, springs shut.
for 'long' exposures the first one opens time passes and then the second closes, but to achieve very short times, the second curtain starts to close before the first one has fully cleared the opening. so the edge of the second curtain can be traveling fractions of a second behind the first.
the result is that NOT ALL OF YOUR FILM is exposed to light at the same instant. If you have a flash go off during a fast exposure, only that portion of film that is exposes when the flash fires will get the proper amount of light, the rest of the film being blocked by a curtain. Most cameras are wired to fire the flash as soon as the first curtain is fully open and before the second starts to close. If you have a faster speed set in your camera by mistake, the second curtain has already started to close when the flash goes off. The black area on the right side is that portion of film that was already covered by that second curtain when the flash fired.

if you have the camera set correctly (typically at 1/60th or 1/100th sec) then maybe you should take the camera to a local camera store, and have the curtains timed...

When I plug my computer in the power to the fans and the front light come on. I can't shut off with the power button. only shuts off when unplugged. No screen.

Clear your CMOS by removing the CMOS battery for a while. Then put the battery back. Start your PC and enter the BIOS and reset it to system defaults.

You could also try to "Reseat all internal components" meaning mainly PSU connections, CPU and RAM. Sometimes there is a static build-up rendering your component unable to respond and to function properly. If you reseat it, you remove the static and it should function again.

If all fails, then either your CPU, MB or your PSU is faulty. Ley me know what the PC does as soon as you've tried the above mentioned techniques. Please remember to always note Computer specifications and Operating system details when you post a problem.

Fire a vivitar283 flash at the END of an exposure with the Olympus C-770

You need to set the camera for second-curtain flash

First curtain = fires when the shutter opens.
Second curtain = fires when the shutter closes.
