Change the f12 boot menu on an acer t180

F12 boot menu starts with removable device. I have a usb wireless device and system keeps trying to boot from it. BIOS is set to boot from cdrom or hard drive only. I need to remove usb device from f12 menu or change order of boot on this menu. Machine boots fine without usb wireless plugged in. Any ideas?

Go to the device manager and delete device from it. Then plug in the device and let Windows define it again.

SOURCE: wont turn on

He is getting the screen with del, enter , f12 so the power supply is fine it could be his bios battery that needs to be reseeated and factory default loaded. If you left it on for a while it could be in a state of sleep/hibernation and if you should it down manually you could have stopped it from resuming and thats why it wont boot now and by reseating the bios battery for a couple minutes could remove the resume from the computers memory and might fix your problem. Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution. Please Help rate me if I helped you out or not I am new but a very good tech.

Got an Acer 4050 from ebay and it goes straight to enter boot password

can you click on f12 before it goes to boot password?
The F12 Boot Menu allows you to choose which device that you would like to boot the computer's Operating System from by pressing the F12 key during the computer's Power On Self Test, or POST process. Some notebook and netbook models have the F12 Boot Menu disabled by default.
If this sounds like your problem then try this:
If this sounds like
To enable the F12 Boot Menu:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Press the F2 key to enter computer's BIOS Setup during Power-On Self-Test, or POST, process while the Acer logo is being displayed.
  3. Press the Right Arrow key to select Main
  4. Select F12 Boot Menu
  5. Press the Enter key
  6. Select Enabled
  7. Press the Enter key
  8. Press the F10 key and then press the Enter key to save the changes and restart the computer.
Note: Not all Acer notebooks or netbooks have the F12 Boot Menu feature. Computers that do not have the F12 Boot Menu feature will not be able to enable the feature within the BIOS. I hope this works for you if not, then the problem is obviously not the boot menu. Go to Acer support for more help

Toshiba boot screen won't appear when turned on

It will help if you mention the Toshiba model so we can ascertain which BIOS is running. But in general, take the USB out of the slot, and then when the machine starts up, press F2 when you see the prompt.
Alternatively if you do not see the prompt screen, press the ESC key for 3 seconds immediatley as you start the machine and then F1- that should present you with the Setup screen

Operating system not found

Ensure your BIOS settings are allowing the HDD to be a boot device, preferably in first position in this case. (possibly F12 available for quick boot device setting) otherwise F1 on power up.
Try booting with CDROM pulled. Also remove HDD, inspect & brush pins with an old toothbrush and some IPA or WD40.
Failing that, get a copy of Linux Puppy ver 4 onwards on CD (free download & burn at a UK library) and boot your laptop (set at F12 for CDROM). If you can browse your HDD it may have a boot sector problem - you will need a copy of PART244.exe or FDISK on a CDROM to check further.

I do not have an option to boot from USB

Two suggestions:
1. Try F10 or F12 during boot. There might be a boot menu without going into BIOS. Mine is F10.
2. Update CMOS / BIOS.

How can i boot my dell studio from cdrom so i can reinsall from external drive?

Turn on the machine, press F12 once the Dell splash screen is displayed, the boot menu will show up. From the Boot Menu, use up-down arrow keys on the keyboard and highlight the CD/DVD/CD-RW and press Enter. You will see another menu, select "Boot from Cd-Rom" and press enter to select it. The system will boot up from the CD-Rom. Please note that this settings is only for one time boot, once the system is restarted, the boot sequence will be restored to the previous saved settings. If you wish to set it from the Bios, enter the Bios settings by hitting F2 or Delete (should be shown at the bottom of the Dell splash screen) while you see the Dell Splash Screen. In the Bios settings menu, go to Boot options and make the changes with the boot sequence.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Trying to recover from acer restore cds but keeps coming up with the above eror number and telling me to restart computer

Hello

Can you read the that recovery disk in another computer/laptop? If yes,put the CD into the tray When you boot your system hit f12, then select your USB cdrom, and it should boot then.

If no,you have to check the BIOS settings to ensure that "CD-ROM Drive" is set as the first boot device, otherwise the PC will ignore the disc.

press F2 at the acer splash-screen during the boot process, or when you see "Press F2 to enter setup" at the bottom of the screen.

On the main BIOS screen there is a menu along the top.
Use arrow key to highlight 'BOOT' in the menu bar.

Now you see "Boot Priority Order"
Yours probably has "IDE 0" as first boot device,
and "CD/DVD as second boot device.

The first boot device (IDE 0) is already highlighted.

Press 'F6' to swap them round, so that first boot device is
"CD/DVD"

Now press 'F10'

Highlight "YES" at the prompt (may already be highlighted) and press <Enter>

PC will reboot, this time from the CD/DVD drive first.

You can leave the BIOS set like that permanently so you don't have to go through all that process again next time, just don't leave a bootable disc in the drive unless you really want to boot from it.

When its switched on it doesnt boot, just goes to the acer splash screen that says 'Del to enter setup" and "F12 for setup'. I think it was switched off with a usb memory stick 2.0 connected,...

Have you gone to 'setup' using F12?

If you can get into Setup you should be able to change boot options to boot from fixed (hard) disc. Unless the hard drive has been damaged or formatted this should work.

Both cd driver and wifi driver not working. I can not install a new opreating system nor can i surf the web with the laptop

That sounds like the BIOS is not enabled correctly.
Boot the notebook and the instant the Bios menu inviting you to set the boot device is displayed, press F12
Set the BIOS to use CDRom as first beet device by usinf the arrow buttons. Press F10 when finished and re boot.
Your CD Rom should now be active and have your System CD in the drive, to boot from.
Hope that helps.

My computer won't boot, I just get a black screen that gives me two options, bios menu and something else f2 or F12

iF you cannot resume with the Operating system..try to go to Bios and set up the boot priority 1 = hard disc,

If this wont still work, your Operatiting system might be corrupted.. go to bios again and set up the boot priority 1 = cdrom.. next, try to insert the installation disc of your OS but do not install it, select option: REPAIR only.

If the cdrom would not boot, unplug the battery of the bios, then put it back again correctly. After this, boot again your cd.. Thanks..! dont forget to comment if you like my post.
