First a warning microwaves can be dangerous there is a lot of voltage in there waiting to get out and if you touch the capacitor you will get shocked and seriously injured so take care, the cover must be removed by takeing out the screws at the back of the panel sometimes there are screws at the sides or underneath.then look on both sides one side will have a fan and a big thing on the base this is your transformer(do not touch)you will see a wire with a larger plastic tube in the middle from the transformer(do not touch) that goes to a silver device with two wire attached this is the apacitor(really do not touch this can kill you)take a pair of well insulated long nose pliers and pull the wire with the plastic tube from the capacitor first the pull it from the transformer turn the tube in opposite direction to open you will see visually if the fuse is blown if so replace and reverse process to reasemble there is also some times a fuse on the pc board(if you have one)located behind the display panel normally a white ceramic fuse and on most machines whe the power cable comes inside the machine it is joined to a pc board there is normally a glass or ceramic fuse there check these first before going to the mains fuse between the transformer and the capacitor please again this is a dangerous piece of equipment respect it or it will bite you

LG LMV1813ST MIRCOWAVE STOPPED WORKING?

The fuse can be replaced, but the underlying issue should still be investigated and resolved. Otherwise the new fuse will blow also.
If the microwave is not working the thermal fuse may have blown.
When a microwave stops working the problem is usually the line fuse or within the high voltage circuit; either the high voltage capacitor, diode, transformer or magnetron.

Line Fuse

Every microwave oven has a line fuse. This fuse is designed to blow if too much current is drawn through the microwave circuitry. The fuse can be replaced, but the underlying issue should still be investigated and resolved. Otherwise the new fuse will blow also.
Main Control Board

If the microwave is not working the main control board may be defective. This is not common. When a microwave stops working the problem is usually the line fuse or within the high voltage circuit; either the high voltage capacitor, diode, transformer or magnetron.

Thermal Fuse

If the microwave is not working the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.
Thermoprotector

If the microwave is not working the thermoprotector may have tripped. This is a safety device to prevent the microwave from overheating. It can be tested for continuity to see if it's blown2_6_2013_8_43_03_pm.gif2_6_2013_8_43_37_pm.jpg

My model nn-p295wf microwave stopped working ,all power just stopped, about a year ago. I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the DIODE and the fuse, then it worked again. Afew weeks ago it happened...

Replace the magnetron, safety fuse and diode as a set and check the door interlock switches.
That should get it working for another year or so.
Don't forget microwave mains fuses are special sand filled and semisurge type.

Microwave blows fuse in microwave mode grill function ok

It is most likely the capacitor has shorted or the rectifier has shorted. Check with ohmeter, but make sure it is discharged first by shorting the capacitor with a wire.

Microwave has stopped working after being run empty for a short time. Is there a fuse that needs to be replaced or is the microwave dead?

There is a fuse inside the oven. The rating of the fuse may be 8amps. It is not suggested to run the oven without load inside.
