Re: where is the power source? I can't find where to...
On the opposite end at the back there is a rectangular hole with two spring contacts. You should have a power lead that plugs into a rectangular box. This is the power adaptor and it slides into the hole. If you don't have that box there's no way you can get powered up.

It could be a scanner hardware problem. Try to unplug the printer from the power source to reset it. Wait at least 10 seconds and then re-plug the printer back into the power. If problem continues, please don't hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.
1. Make sure the All-In-One is on.
2. Lift the scanner unit until the scanner support keeps it open. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the All-In-One is busy.
3. Press down on the cartridge carrier levers.
4. Remove the old cartridges.
5. If you are installing new cartridges, remove the stickers and transparent tape from the bottom of the cartridges.
6. Insert the new cartridges. Make sure the black print cartridge is secure in the left carrier and the color cartridge is secure in the right carrier, and then close the carrier lid.
7. Lift the scanner unit and push the scanner support back while lowering the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Just unplug the printer from the power source. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer. Remove the used cartridges. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover. Plug the printer back to the power source.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.
Here's a link to the Lexmark website to guide you on how to install/replace the cartridges on your Lexmark printer. http://bit.ly/cevMS4. The printer shown may not look exactly like your printer, however, the steps are the same. But, there are cases that the cartridge carrier doesn't move to the center when you lift the scanner unit. If that happens, unplug the printer from the power source. With the scanner unit lifted, hold the solid white tape you see inside the printer. The other end is connected to the ink cartridge carrier. Slowly drag the carrier to the center to remove the cartridges and install the new ones. Close the covers. Close the scanner unit. Plug printer back to power source. Let it print the alignment page to align the cartridges. Hope this helps.

heated up to the correct temperature or there is some other issue with the

it does, take it off of any power strip and plug it directly into a wall
power outlet. The power strip may not be supplying enough power to the

moving the unit to a warmer room and see if the error reoccurs. The unit
will need to be serviced if the bulb does not come on.

58.X PRINTER ERROR alternates with 58.X PRINTER ERROR To continue turn off then on
A printer error has occurred where a memory tag central processing unit (CPU) error was detected, or there is a problem with the air sensor or power supply.
2- air-temperature sensor
3- DC controller
4- power supply
Turn the printer off and then on.
Remove the printer from any universal power supply (UPS), additional power supplies, or power strips. Plug the printer into a wall outlet and see if this resolves the problem.
If the printer is already plugged into a wall outlet, try another power source in the building that is independent of the one currently being used.
The line voltage and current source at the printer location might need to be inspected to ensure that it meets the electrical specifications for the printer. (See the printer User'sGuide for information about electrical specifications.)

Have you loaded the scanner driver software on your PC? Is the printer connected to the PC using a known good cable plugged into the proper receptacles? Is the scanner plugged into a known good power source? Is the scanner turned on? If you use one of the USB ports, your PC should automatically display NEW HARDWARE FOUND on your screen, and willl then ask if you want to install it using the SCANNER AND CAMERA INSTALLATION WIZARD.. You can also left click mouse on WINDOWS START, left click on CONTROL PANEL, and left click on the SCANNERS AND CAMERAS ICON. A new window should appear. Follow the instructions on this SCANNERS AND CAMERAS window, and you should be able to get your scanner working.
