Where is the power source? I can't find where to plug it in
I don't have the original installment information. I just brought the scanner to school without any cords. I can only find a place to connect to the computer.
Re: where is the power source? I can't find where to...
On the opposite end at the back there is a rectangular hole with two spring contacts. You should have a power lead that plugs into a rectangular box. This is the power adaptor and it slides into the hole. If you don't have that box there's no way you can get powered up.

If your HP Scanjet 200 is not working, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
Check the power supply: Make sure the scanner is properly connected to the power source and that the power cord is securely plugged in. If it's connected to a power strip or surge protector, try plugging it directly into a wall outlet.
Check the USB connection: Make sure the USB cable is properly connected between the scanner and your computer. Try using a different USB cable or a different USB port on your computer.
Check the scanner driver: Make sure the scanner driver is properly installed on your computer. You can download the latest driver from the HP website and reinstall it.
Restart the scanner and computer: Turn off the scanner and your computer, then turn them back on and try scanning again.
Clean the scanner glass: If the scanner glass is dirty, it can affect the quality of the scanned images. Clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
Check for error messages: If there are any error messages displayed on the scanner or on your computer, check the HP support website for more information on how to resolve them.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to contact HP support or a professional technician for further assistance. They can help diagnose and fix the problem safely and effectively.

Your school college or university should help you with this because they supplied the software to you. they should have a record of it. speak to the person who teaches you IC, information technology or ICT, information and communications technology. or you could try to see if your school college or university have already registered the program with microsoft. if they have then you can get the microsoft website to scan your computer and then automatically download an activation code. once you have an activation code from microsoft, you don't really need the original product key any more. microsoft's website is:

Is the unit powering on? Check power cable or try with the cable (and power source) that works on the scanner. Check signal cable if it is loose. Did you install any new program/software. Uninstall and try again.

Have you loaded the scanner driver software on your PC? Is the printer connected to the PC using a known good cable plugged into the proper receptacles? Is the scanner plugged into a known good power source? Is the scanner turned on? If you use one of the USB ports, your PC should automatically display NEW HARDWARE FOUND on your screen, and willl then ask if you want to install it using the SCANNER AND CAMERA INSTALLATION WIZARD.. You can also left click mouse on WINDOWS START, left click on CONTROL PANEL, and left click on the SCANNERS AND CAMERAS ICON. A new window should appear.
