The most important rule is not to go in reverse while you have a tow rope out. also, when you are throwing the handle to the skier/boarder, coil the rope and keep it away from the prop

How do you start 1993 bass tracker?

Bass Tracker? Bass Boat? If its a tiller motor, yank the rope until it starts, or, your arms fall off, whichever comes first! If its electric start, check your batteries are good & fully charged. Make sure your "kill" switch is connected & you're in neutral. Turn the key. In fact make sure you're in neutral for the tiller motor also.

Tip

Not all ropes are created equally

Choosing the wrong type of rope for the purpose you are going to be using it for can result in injury and / or broken property. It may seem to you that some ropes are a little thicker than others, or that some feel stronger than some others. It is very important that you know what you are going to be using your rope for and doing a little research before you walk into a hardware store and blindly buy just any rope.

For water skiing the ropes that come with the ski isn't made to handle shock loading, this is when the rope goes completely slack and then get taught very quickly. This can lead to injury should the rope snap. This is why many water skiers and water tubers go out to buy replacement ropes.

There are many different strengths of towing ropes and cables, the recommended strengths for tubing are 3,350 lb. break strength, 4,100 lb. break strength and 6,000 lb. break strength. A regular rope that you might pick up at a hardware store might only have a break strength of 1,350 lb. which is not strong enough. Also when you buy the rope specially made it will have the knots already in the rope so you don't have to tie them yourself. When you do tie the knots yourself it tends to reduce the strength of the rope.

Its always better to be safe than sorry. When it comes to safety in a water sport don't take your chances with the cheaper rope, buy the right stuff!

How do i remove the propellor shaft

Hi Herman

We'll need to clarify your question from the posting place in Cars & Trucks. .
  • If you're really asking about a propellor shaft, you're driving a very unusual vehicle (or a member of the License to Kill MI-6 group ;-) ).
  • If you're talking about something like a boat motor, it'll be more appropriately posted in a boat section.
  • If you got zapped by auto-correct, and are looking for help with something like a driveshaft, camshaft, or crankshaft, then we'll need you to post up some more specific information about the year/make/model of your vehicle and which part we're talking about. Any of those shafts on any vehicle will be a very involved project.
Hoping a re-posted question with more detail will help us help you (It'll get better response if you re-post instead of just replying to this thread)

Happy Holidays

Cant get forward gear,

check the rubber bushing in the prop as it tears when the prop is jammed
if there is no rubber bush there will be a shear pin in the shaft that will be broken

Is there any safety rules to tell my kids when they go out tubing relating to tow cables?

  • Make sure the person you put in charge of the rope knows how important their job is.
  • Always keep a toolbox on board with a knife to cut lines / ropes. You may want to start shopping atToolSource.
  • When in salty water swimming a boat out of shallow water wear shoes in case you come across an oyster bed.
  • Keep a marine first aid kit on board to patch feet cut on oyster beds.
  • When your kneeboard/wakeboard rope is cut or broken you can use a regular ski rope and just shorten it. It works like a charm.

Can I tow a car from Warwick to London with a rope from another car, route is M40 Thank you

Towing a car with a rope is dangerous, and illegal over here. If the front car has to stop, you now have at least two wrecked cars and at least two injured persons. It is a relatively new car, surely one or the other person has the wherewithal to hire a real tow vehicle or rent a tow bar made for that purpose. The tow bar maintains a constant distance between the vehicles.

How much weight can I tow with a 2002 Town & Country with the 3.8L V6. I have an 18 foot Stingray I/o runabout fiberglass boat & want to know if I can tow it with the T&C.

3500 Lbs.

Install an oil cooler if you do not have one already.

The Limited has everything the tow package came with except the stronger blinker control (not really needed).

You will likely be at or slightly over the limit. Remember you will have gear in the boat and a full tank of gas all added to the dry weight.
