I had a similar problem, with a headg trimmer, it was working fine, just stoped. It did not get stuck, or caught up in anything, on dismantiling, as you say, motor running, no drive.
It was get a new one, or bust, so I put a small tack of weld on gear/drive and reduced fuse rating to 8 amps, (from 13 A) incase I got it jamed, its fine now.
I never could figure how the drive got from a gear to the oscillating leaver, must have been a clutch somwhere inside, anyway, weld sorted that out....

Why do the plastic drive gears underneath the shaving head keep breaking off? Thisis the third Norelco 8140Xl this happened to.

If this is a repetitive problem for you, there must be a reason. Most likely, the blades are getting jammed and this is causing the tips of the gears to twist off. To prevent this from happening, make sure that you disassemble the shaver heads and thoroughly clean the teeth on a regular basis to prevent them from getting clogged solid. Also, make sure that you are protecting the delicate combs of the shaver head to prevent them from getting damaged. If the comb gets damaged, the teeth on the blade will lodge in it and this can cause the gear tip to break off.

You can replace thesebroken gears. You will find the required part at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Can i remove cutting head from husqvarna 325c trimmer???

You should be able to if you can lock the arbor below the gear housing with some type of tool. I assume the shaft turns with the head (common problem). If not, maybe you can disconnect the lower gear head from the drive tube and then have a way to get the head off. Echo gear heads are easily removed...not sure about your Husky.

The trimmer head stopped turning What could be wrong

here is web site for parts

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=225+L+%281994-06%29

almost sounds like the driving drum engagement end has rounded off or the end of drive shaft broke off at either end , or the gear head end is broken / damaged

have a look at the splines on the output shaft on the gear head , check the plate that engages those splines too

physicaly take off the tube / shaft assy from power head and check drum and clutch rotating , check drive shaft end (s)

if ok refit tube / shaft assy ( make sure engaged properly)
tighten mount bolts - remove gear head from end of shaft, start motor and run see if shaft turns ok with some rev s if so
problem is in the gear head

check out website good site

cheers paul hope it helps

How to lubricate Norelco 3405 shaver?

The sewing machine oil should work fine.
This model has 4 screws on the back. You must push up the trimmer to see two of those but the other two are in plain view. Remove screws with a flat jewelers screwdriver or you can purchase a special removal tool from shaveroutlet.com here:
http://shaveroutlet.com/screwdriver-access-tool-for-norelco-shavers-and-some-braun-p-262.html

Once the back cover is removed, you will be able to see the motor. It is attached to the gear housing by two metal clips. Remove the clips and you can lift the motor out. Apply a couple of drops of your oil to the pinion gear on the 'front' of the moto and a drop to the small indentation on the back of the motor.

If you still have noise. you will need to lubricate the gears. Temove the gear housing by removing the 2 screws that are on either side of the motor. The gear housing will then come off. The front and back of the housing are held together by plastic snaps on the three corners. Gently pry them apart to seperate and reveal the gears inside. Lift the gears out and apply a light form of grease to where the gears fit onto the back of the gear housing. Vaseline should work well if you have nothing else.
Reassemble in reverse order and it should run very quiet when you're done

I need to replace the whole trimmer head and I dont know how to get the gear case off so I can put the new one on. Can anyone help?

To replace the trimmer head you don't need to replace the gear case. If you look closely about a 1/4 inch up from the safety guard you'll see a hole in the side of the "gearcase" assemby. (you may have to clean the old dead grass clippings off to see it) You can shove a rod into the hole that will stop the head from spinning freely and I believe you spin the head clock wise (reverse threads) to remove the head.

Remington microscreen3 tct problem

I can only comment genericaly for this:

Most likely the internal drive shaft is defective. In some models there is a gear box. This may not be coupling correcty due to a failure. In any of these cases it will most likely need replacement parts to be reliable again. Your shaver should never fall apart!

You can call the company and enquire about where to send the shaver for service. Some of these companies have a flat rate fee for service. Look for your reciept to see if it is possibly under warranty. If the estimate for repair is too high, then you should consider a new shaver.

I would suggest for you to try getting a higher end type model. From personal experience and the research that I have done in the past, I found the Philips and the Panasonic to probably be the best shavers around at this time. You may pay a little more, but they are worth the few exra dollars for the performance and reliablity.
