Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I have a RCA 42 inch 1080 HD Tv. My son decided to change my color setting. Is there a way to get the factory setting back? I have been playing with the different tint, contrast and color settings. I still can't getting anything other than a bright yellow and a bright blue. I don't have anything red. Can you suggest a good ratio for each setting?

Well there is usually a tab in your pictuer adjusment screen that says reset. but if your tv doesn't have that tab i can give you a few adjustments.

first- your tint should remain neutral. so if it has a color scale of 1 to 100 it should be on 50
second- your contrast should be about 80% or what your eye likes. look at the black tones
when you are adjusting it.
third- your brightness would look good about 65% pay attention to whites in your picture
fourth- your color all depends on how your eye precieves it. so adjust it with out making the colors to
neon or too dull
fith- your sharpness should be turned down to about 15% to much gives the picture a grainy texture.
sixth- your color temp should be neutral or normal. if the tv gives numbers the selection that says 6500k is the best choice.

you could always buy a calibration disc for about $20 and that could help you even better because now you are using images targeting the individule adjustment.

you could always pay to have it profeesionally caibrated. ISF certified techs will come too your home and do all the adjusment with special color filters and light sensors to give it the best picture possible according to your room. i know best buy charges $250 for it

those are just some suggestions. and the adjustments i give you work greatest for me, so if you dont like the overall out come you can always tweek it to your eye. make sure you use a digital picture with a lot of color when your making your adjustments. i like using disneys "the incredibles"

I am attempting to connect a Verizon Fios QIP6200-2 HD set top box to my Mitsubishi WT-46805 HD TV using the Y, Pr and Pb RCA connections (no HDMI port on TV) I cannot get any HD channels to work.

The set will have two component inputs, one is NOT HD.

You want to connect to the DTV input which if you look from the back will be marked 480/1080 I .

Also double check the connections to be sure blue-red-red and green to green.

If we have an hd-ready television and we have dishnetwork hd does their box make our tv hd? Or do we have to have their magical piece of equipment to make our television hd?or tv is the WS-55315 model.

You need a HD box connected to the DTV input on the back of the set (it is marked 1080) This set has only one HD input for this---HD ready means it will work only with a box (some newer sets have a HD tuner built into them and for basic HD channels do not need a box).

The problem I am having is with the convergence of the tv. I use the television for cable, and for video gaming. The cable box works fine, but the playstation is where I run into problems. Games supported...

RCA Tvs have to be adjusted each independently for each format such as 480 and 1080. You can get the ITC222 series convergence and alignment CD from www.tvrepairworld.com which will explain exactly how to do it

HD 1080 Series (WD-55809) - Color convergence issue

I don't know of illustrated instructions but I can provide you with the service manual for your TV. It does have illustrations of disassembly and components as well as schematics. Your set very likely needs new convergence IC chips. This is a common problem with all projection TVs. The repair is not expensive ($60-75 in parts)  but does involve unsoldering and removing the old chips and soldering in new ones. Some times there are some fuses that need to be replaced as well. If you want the manual provide me with an email address.

I have blue color on my Sony HD tv in lower left corner -

If you have a speaker close to the tv try moving it away a couple of inches. If this does not fix it it may be from the factory speakers

No color on mitsubishi 1080

1080 is a High Definition setting. If your Television is HD capabilities you need to make sure that the programming that you are viewing is being broadcasted in 1080. If it is not then you will see a difference in picture quality and sound. If no color at all and program being watch is HD programming check your connections on back of Television. depending on what kind of input the Television is receiving you might need to try new cables or a new input. Good luck

My xbox360 Wont work on my WS-55513 MITSUBISHI COMPONENT

Try changing the settings on the Xbox under display to 1080i. If it is 1080 p, or 720p, the image will look funny so make sure it is at 1080i.

First of all, is your blue "HD" light lit up on the front of your Uverse box?

If yes, then you're in HD

If No, you need to check your connections from Box to TV
1.Those Red-Blue-Green cables are for video only, they don't carry sound and shouldn't be connected to audio outs. Audio needs a seperate cable. Make sure your Red isn't on the audio out which is also red. Make sure your blue and green aren't switched with each other either. Check that at both ends.
2. Try an HDMI cable. It will carry audio and video together and it's one cord instead of 5.
3. What brand/model of TV is it? Is it an older projection TV? The HD tuner might be shot. The individual color tubes commonly fail after a few years.
4. Are you selecting 720p or 1080i from your TV's menu or from the Uverse menu? You'll need to set it through the Uverse box, not the TV.
5.Follow -Menu -Settings -Aspect Ratio to change to 720 or 1080. This should start an autotest which will scramble your picture for about 5 seconds, then bring you back to a menu asking you to keep settings or revert back settings. If you never see that question pop up, then your TV isn't supporting the HD, and you settings will be rolled back automatically. If the question does pop up and you can read it, select "keep settings" and press OK. Your blue HD light should come on the front of the box now.

1989 RCA color track 2000-model no.p46050T projection tv

Terry, bad news, there are no "factory settings" for those alignment pots, every individual pot has a distinct function, and if you look closely at the board you will see that there are pots for each color, red, green, & blue which correspond to your 3 picture tubes, every tv has to have a tech do whats called a convergence alignment when it is being built at the factory, EVERY tv is different, even if you ordered a brand new board it would need this alignment done once the new board was installed. You`ll have to call a tech for this one, no way of getting around it, hope this answers your question, more questions? feel free to email me back, good luck, BMW Rider
