Your monitor can easily support Windows XP resolutions. The problem almost certainly lies in your video settings. You need to lower your screen resolution and/or refresh rate. If you can not start Windows due to this problem, you will have to start Windows in VGA compatibility mode. Follow these steps:
When your PC starts up, press F8 a few times
This will bring up a menu whereby you can select VGA mode from the list
Once you are logged into Windows, right click anywhere on the desktop & select "properties"
Then go to display settings & select a resolution of 1024 X 768.
Go to advanced settings and make sure your refresh rate is no more than 70 to 75Mhz
Restart Windows normally & your display should be correct.
Unfortunately progman.exe is not compatible with windows xp service packs 2 or 3. In fact it is also not supported in xp service pack 1 but i've tried it and it works. I don't know what lies inside service pack 1, but since microsoft declared, it should only work with Windows Nt., 3.0, and 95/98 platform. Even if the installation is successful, we can never run the program.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Use this link: www.hp.com. Click Support & Drivers tab. For step 1, select Download drivers and Software. 2. Enter the product name eg, HP Deskjet 6943. Click Go. Lookup for your model and download its drivers. Good luck
Is there a reset, restore button on the monitor? If so, press it. If this doesn't solve the problem, start Windows in Safe Mode by pressing on the F8 key as it is booting. When you get the black & white menu, choose safe mode. You should be able to change the resolution to a really generic one (like 600 x 800) here to allow you to start over. You may have set the refresh rate incorrectly in the display screen, too.
