But the camera itself will not turn back on. i then tried it for the past hour after that and nothing happend, i left it over night and then still nothing happened. My camrea said focus error will not do nothing

The lens error/focus errror is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must the camera be opened. If so check the voltage on the motor drive, check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and realased. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

When i turn my camera on my screen is black but i can pull up pictures from my memory card and they are ok

The problem is in the lens housing, the shutter is not opening because the motor is seized or the gears are jammed, that produces a black image when trying to take a photograph.

This may be due to the aperture ring in your lens. Try the following:

1. Turn off your camera
2. Move the aperture ring clockwise then lock
3. Turn on your camera and try again.

If this does not work, do the same thing again but turn the aperture ring counter-clockwise.

I dont know how to upload videos from camrea i

The .mov file format is a MPEG 4 video format and is used in Apple's Quicktime program. You need to ensure you have the Quick time application loaded on your system. You can download it here http://quicktime.mediaplayer-stop.com/?s=gouk&a=qtuk&gclid=CKvj_8iczpoCFQSRZgod7TKH3A

all the best.

Lens will not retract. camrea frozen my camera will flicker on and off and the lens will not retract. it is a kodak M763, first time this has happened.

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture on display, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacing batteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restarting camera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try an easy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them) while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the mode selector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair from manufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.

What was the make/model of the camera you were using? First try this check the cards noting if they are in the “locked” position correct this by a sliding switch, switch them to unlock, and try that.
Thanks,

D80 ERR & CHR message

Hello Michaela1,

There are a few things I can recommend:

1. Please check your card on some other camera to make sure the media is alright.

2. I am not sure if you take the SD card out of the camera and put it into a card reader (stand alone, in your laptop/PC) to read the images. As I understand, you first took out the card and then put it back into the camera to read from the camera once it did not work in the card reader. However, there are issues with doing both. I will outline them below.
  • Card Reader: At times, reading a card in a card reader will mess it up and it will remain unusable in the camera even if it displays photographs on camera LCD. Please note, this will happen even if you have only viewed the photographs on your computer and not saved them to your hard drive/media. The card will most definitely not work in camera if you delete photographs from the card or edit them on the card. The only solution to this is to format that card IN the Camera. The manual has instructions for the same.
  • In Camera: Other times, you may have connected the camera through the USB cable to a computer with the card in the camera. This problem may crop up IF you used your computer to delete images from the card whilst it was IN the camera. Again, the solution is to format the card. IN the camera, not from the PC.
3. Whether you use the USB cable or take out the card and put it into a card reader to save your photographs, always repeat ALWAYS format your card in the camera after transferring your photographs. This ensures card will not malfunction unless the media is corrupt. This also has the added benefit of not having the same photographs a few times over.

4. Try not to leave your images in the card after taking photographs. Try to save them to your PC at the earliest opportunity. Format after-wards (I can not repeat this point enough).

5. Use multiple cards of smaller capacity. They are cheaper to buy. Even if you lose one card to a mal-function, you still have photographs on others.

I hope this helps.

Raw setting

You do need RAW compatable software to read these files.
However this should not prevent you simply saving them to a file.
When you say regular Wizard - is this the Windows scanner/Camera Wizard or the one on the Camera CD
If the latter delete that software and use the Windows version.
If you are using the camera to up load images - not a a good idea think of the battery drain - a Card reader is better.
Reading Raw images?
Do a web search for free software
IrfanView Might as indeed Picasa - two to look at
