How to download photos from Nokia 301 to my computer. I have a USB cable, but the computer does not recognise the phone as a storage device. It simply recharges the phone when connected.

you will have to install Nokia software or remove the memory card from camera and put it into card reader of computer. If required a card reader can be bought very cheap on ebay/amazon etc.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Put the card into the camera, use the "Copy" command in the Edit menu to copy the two photos onto the memory card, and then transfer the photos to your computer as you usually do from the memory card.

Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Mac won't recognise canon drive

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to a Windows computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download this camera photo recovery software

Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.

The V3x has microSD memory card. When you connect the phone to the computer it should appear a message saying giving you optios to open files and explore your mobile files. If the message doesnt appear:
menu, connections, Usb: connect to Memory card. It should work. If you havent got microSD card in your phone, you must install Motorola Mobile Phone Tools (comes with you mobile) Good luck ;)
