Question about Toshiba 57H82 57" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

57h82 I am looking for a service manual link for the 57H82 to replace the caps on the hyper pcb board. I have a problem with wavy picture when you turn it on until it warms up. I noticed a few people resolved there problems with either replacing the board or replacing the caps. Any help would be great!! Any link to part numbers for the caps would also be great!! Thanks

Re: 57h82

FYI, it turns out that the service manual doesn't have any schematics or otherwise board level reference to the hyperboard. It only refers to it as a module that can be replaced. Nothing more.

Toshiba 57H82 problems

It's sent via Pando and you should get a link to it in your mail. To open it you'll need Pando, it's a free download if you don't already have it... The hyper module on that has about 10 caps that are common in that failure. If you need anything off board don't hesitate to ask.

Service Manual

Will send it out post haste... But be VERY careful inside the hyper module you can easily lift the traces when trying to remove the smd caps and ruin the module beyond repair...
Just send me a private mail and I'll return with the service manual.

Toshiba 50H82 hyperboard caps

Service manual won't help much in the hyper board and that's likely the problem.. Simply remove the hyper board and open the can. Inside you'll see a number of smd caps. There are 11 10mf/16v that need to be replaced...

Wavy picture on all sources

This is a somewhat common problem having to do with the hyper module, Toshiba p/n#23148024 There are a gouping of 16v/10uf caps in the hyper board that fail causing the distoritions you're describing here. At first, as the module begins to go bad the distoritions are present and usuallly go away or fade significantly as the set warms up - - this gets worse until the distoritions don't go away at all... From what you're saying you're at stage three already. :) You have a few of options: (1) local repair shop pull the board and replace the caps or module; (2) Pull the module yourself and repair or send it in for board level repair; or (3) pull the hyper baord, order a new one and put it in yourself. For 2 or 3 you'll be better off having the service manual and if you need it just email me privately and I'll send it. Make sure in your request to tell me the model number and reference something of this repair so I have a clue of what you need. BTW the hyper board is on the left side of the unit mounted vertical on the signal board inside a metal can. Good Luck Bill
