No, do not attempt this as you will damage the unit if you try to take it apart and reassemble it. They are not built for dis-assembly and re-assembly. They are easily damaged. Rather, rent a large industrial hand truck and use several straps to secure it to the hand truck and about three men to help you. It is about the only way to do it.

Be careful... there is a fragile mirror inside which can be broken if bumped abruptly.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a 57 inch Hitachi TV, model F7F500A. The magic focus will not complete the blue. We have a blue line at the top of the screen. Please advise.

This set should use two of the STK-392-150 CHIPS for convergence, see attached photos.

If this is the case both chips need to be replaced and some adjustments made; if in your case blue will not move in some direction or you have a blue bow in the picture, one of the two chips mentioned is bad.

they cost around 300 new, can order it off the hitachi web site, but i would look on craigs list and watch for someone getting rid of a 57 inch tv, and snag that one , use the screen off that, doesnt have to be same brand

How can I get a manual for a 52 in Hitachi Rear Proj TV?

Sears parts will most likely have it (even if they never sold this model) go to sears. com look for parts -electronics all you need is the model number (on back of tv)

Hitachi hd 57 inch rear projection tv.

You may be able to correct this problem with the convergence controls in the user menu. Hitachi also has on some projection sets a button called "magic focus" which is an automatic convergence control. If you can't seem to bring things back the way they should be you may have to get your convergence ICs replaced as well as some resistors in the convergence circuit. Unless you have above average soldering skills I'd suggest leaving that up to a technician.
