    Hiya, azzz949 & tans nut.

this problem with the screen is on going now for over ayear and the only time it works is when i get the inverter replaced, which is more often than i would like.

by the way if i connect to an external computer the laptop works perfectly. Which leads me to believe it is associated with the physical elements rather than the technical...also i dont know why their called laptops cos this machine cooks the lap off you after 5 minutes.

Hi, please can you explain a little more. What are you doing on the laptop when this happens? Is it all the time or just sometimes?

Is it happening when u do not use the laptop for few minutes??
Or it could be something to do with the power on the battery which is reducing due to usage. Screen would get darker to make optimum usage of battery and give longer back ups.

Locked out of my computer

Which Password? Bios Password?Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen User Logon Password?

Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista?Windows 7?OK,if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened security on it so you've gotto have a password reset disk which 99% of the people who own laptops withwindows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the first things you do whenyou buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced with reinstalling theOperating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator(hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once thedesktop appears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the iconsbigger, but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

How long have you had this desktop? Is it still under warranty? If so, get a replacement. It sounds like your monitor is dieing on you. Also, check the connection to the port on the PC that it is fully and correctly attached to the monitor port. Also check the port on the monitor itself if it has one. If this doesn't correct the issue, see if there are updated drivers for your monitor. It's either your monitor is dieing or your graphics card is dieing.

My computer screen is darker than normal. Things are still visable but darker than usual. It is like it is running only on battery power. How do we fix it? It is a dell inspiron 1525.Thanks!

try turning the brightness up on the monitor (stupid thing i know but i have to say it) if that is at maximum but its still very dull... then i dare say you have blown a blobe in the side of the monitor.. or the inverter in the base of the monitor that regulates power to the globes is playing up (but genreally the screen will be almost completely black when that happens) best bet is to try another monitor if you have one.. if its fine with that one then its the monitor! if not then you will probably have to take it to someone to get looked at.

Can't run a downloaded programme or do a System Restore

You deleted a file used by system restore--made your machine too clean. If you have your Windows insllation or backup disk, insert that and use the fix option.

My screen is gradually going black. I have had my hp pavilion mx 50 for quite a few years now,(7-8), lately the screen is getting darker and darker to the point where I can no longer read anything on it....

if you can still find one you can replace the backlight on your lcd screen. I Have included a link to show you ecaxtly what i am talking about. However with having a system that old i would highly recommend upgrading to a new computer. Running an older one may limit the programs you are able to use and the connections you can make.

This one
Or I like This one a lot more

I have a shap lcd computer monitor and when i plug it into my computer and turn the power on, the little green power light comes on, screens back. and after 5-10 seconds the light turns orange and blinks...

It could be your monitor is fine. It simply goes to a cycle when its turned on and does not detect any signal coming from your CPU, it simply goes on standby mode (hence the darker image and orange/blinking light.) have you checked the computer (CPU) part?

My Gateway CX200 Laptop monitor is getting darker with a pinkish hue to it. is it my LCD display or the inverter chip or what?

Most likey, bad news im affraid, its the screen just going bad. Usually theres nothing that can be done. You can try reseating the ribbon cable and see if that improves it, but most likely it wont, they usually have only so many operating hours before the crystals or plasma goes out, depending which it is. Plasma usually goes out quicker than LCD.

Try finding a replacement on Ebay or online somewhere.

Good luck.

P.S. im asuming of course that you know a little about what you are doing and it isnt something like the display settings or contrast.

My monitor is getting darker by the day. rigth now i can't even see some the things it ois showing on the screen. please what are the problems and solution. so also is my flash drive doesn't let me copy...

most monitors get darker with age -- for a while you can counter this by turning up the Brightness and Contrast controls, but this only gives you a little extra time (and probably speeds up the decay process anyway).

for copy file check this one-------> CopyFile API
