Question about Bernina 1008

Bernina 1008 feed dog problem.

I have a Bernina 1008 and am having problems lowering the feed dog to free machine/embroider.
I have tried numerous times to turn the dial on the front of my machine to lower the feed dog and nothing seems to happen.
Is there another way to lower the feed dog without the dial?

Your machine needs oiling. The feeddogs are stuck. Could be in several places. You would have to remove the back and side covers to get to what needs cleaning and oiling. Especially behind that knob. Just removing the covers is a job so I can't recommend you do this unless your trained. But you can try. Don't forget the screws beneith the machine. But really, there is too much behind the handwheel for a novice to deal with. Maybe see if you can just let some sewing machine oil just run down behind the feedog knob and work it alot.
Good luck.

How do I lower and raise dogs on the bernina 1008

unless there is a mechanical failure , the feed dogs are governed by the forward/reverse control
if it is in neutral position then the dogs will not move

Could mis aligned feed dogs cause the machine to slow down as you sew? My machine slows down as I'm sewing.

This can be a problem and can be detected by simply removing the open arm cover and run the machine again to see if the machine runs free. Occasionally, the feed dog is misaligned but generally not by itself. The problem will generally be from an applied force where the open arm cover has been removed as in careless cleaning, some sort of repair attempt, or the actual removal of, and failure to align the feed dog properly. The feed dog can be aligned parallel with equidistance spacing between the outside feed dog bars and the slots in the needle plate. Further adjustments can also be made to the lateral spacing on the X axis as well as the position of the center bar on the Y axis, but I won't go there this time around.

Bernina feed dog down and will not return to normal position by switch

1. Clean and lubricate entire machine following the MANUAL instructions.
2. Try to "lower" it again then try to raise it - several times.
If this does not solve it, see a service person.

Error message asking to lower feed dogs before embroidering, feed dogs were lowered

Try raising and lowering the feed dogs a couple times there may be something in there that's tripping the sensor.

I need to raise the teeth on a Bernina sewing machine and I can't remember how to do it. Any help?

On the front of your machine, is there a knob that you turn for zig-zag/straight stiching and the other way for darning? There will be an icon showing the stitches

The darning selection will lower the feed dogs.

I would like to set my bernina 1008 to a freehand setting but d not have the manal i would like ot know what control to have on which setting to make this work

You have to lower the feed dogs and use a darning foot. Use straight stitch setting.

If you cannot lower the feed dogs, this model may use a cover plate.

You can also set the stitch length to zero and tape an index card over the feed dogs with a small opening for the needle.

You will be controlling the stitch length as you move the fabric by hand.

Bernina 1130 feed dogs won't feed fabric

On a Bernina 1130 the power on-off knob and the feed dog raise and lower knob look similar and are next to each other on the end of the machine, making it easy to lower the dog assembly entirely, without realizing it. Make sure you didn't accidentally lower the entire feed dog assembly by turning the feed dog knob: you can tell as you turn it if the dogs are up or down. On the Bernina 1130 the knob, like the power should be in the horizontal position to be working both feed and power.

Fabric not advancing

Could be as simple as pushing the button that raises and lowers the feeddogs for free motion.
