Re: Printer Head needs removal to clean dried ink
Not a cleanable type head, filiment gets burnt, when ink is not around it when printing is done. Ie dodgy ink blocks lines or has air in it and has permanently stuffed the print head, fix on brothers is replace head, cost excessive.,..time for the bin and the newfound wisdom that inks aint just inks.
Ink empy or no inks is read in ink well compartment via a black flag in ink cartridge that must be up and floating as not to obstuct photocell in well area.. check the rectangler bump in rear middle of cartridge. All cartridges must have flags up ie not empty, seeing ink does not indicate a cartridge with ink, a little is always left to prevent air entering system, hence machine calling out no innk cartridge to prevent damage...

Refilling HP color printer ink cartridges saves money and time spent running to the store to find the right ink cartridge, which sometimes is out of stock. By having the refill kits for the HP ink cartridge, you can just refill the cartridge when the ink runs out. The refilling process is easy to do and anyone can do it in a few minutes. The ink kits come with directions and all the colors one will need to refill the ink cartridge.
1.Place a piece of paper towel on a flat surface. Remove the empty ink cartridge from the printer. To do this, open the cover and wait for the ink dispenser to move the ink to the open door. Lift up the tap that holds the ink cartridge in place and pull out the cartridge. Push the tap holder back down and close the cover. 2.Place the ink cartridge on the paper towel. Gather the ink refilling kit together with directions and place the ink jars on the paper towel along with the syringe needle. 3.Find the indents on the top of the empty ink cartridge. Poke these holes open with the pen. Sit the cartridge down and open the ink containers. The colors are yellow, cyan and magenta. 4.Read the directions to see where each color goes in the ink cartridge. Insert the syringe needle into the ink container and raise the stopper up until you have the recommended amount of ink to fill into the particular hole. 5.Insert the needle into the hole on the ink cartridge and slowly dispense it into the cartridge. Remember to go slow with this step. If you see the ink oozing out, stop filling and wipe with a paper towel. 6.Cover the holes with the tabs that come in the refill kit or you can use tape. Make sure the hole is sealed to prevent spilling or the ink drying up. Then replace the ink cartridge back into the holder in the printer.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.
remove all cartridges and close the lid. Wait for "ink cartridges missing..." error to appear then install all cartridges and close the lid. If the error persists, remove all cartridges then clean the cyan chip and corresponding contacts in the printer with damp cotton bud. Dry well (with dry c/bud) then fit cartridges back in. If still no good, contact HP.
When the printer says "install C" it is referring to the Cyan (blue) ink cartridge. If this is not a new cartridge, you might have to replace it. If this is a new cartridge, try following these steps.
1. Unplug the power cable. 2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges. 3. Close the ink cover 4. Plug the power back in. 5. Wait for the machine to warm up and tell you that the ink is empty. 6. Reinsert all 4 ink cartridges.
If you keep getting the same message you should try another cartridge. You can put the yellow cartridge in the blue spot to see if you get the same message. If you get the same message then the machine is broken. If you get a new message then the cyan cartridge needs to be changed.
I notice that you saw error message 'check ink c'. This means the printer want you to observe cyan ink cartridge. so,what happen before this message appears?. Please make sure that cyan ink is not empty. if you are sure the ink not empty, then remove cyan ink and reinstall it,else try dry clean ink cartridge contact or you may use contact cleaner before reinstall it. if you have have another cyan ink cartridge that is in good condition, compare it. if this works, means cyan ink cartridge is faulty then you need to replace with the new one. but if the problem still persist,it may caused by carriage unit or logic board problem.
look at the ink cartridge and and first see if the ink covers the top of the cartridge. there is a little part of the ink cartridge the best way to explain it, is there is a tab,. that tab goes into a sensor. if the tab has ink on it, then you mostly like have a problem with the sensor itself. but if there is no ink, the printer is correct. i have had several people bring printers with those type of problems, and when they bring the cartridge i look at it, and they are practically empty.
I contacted the Brother site, the support function there. Pursuant to what I found there, I unplugged the printer for ten seconds and replugged. The message display then told me that cyan was empty, and that magenta was near empty.
I installed a new cartridge in place of the empty cyan, and that fixed it.
