Question about Sony Ericsson P990i Smartphone

Phone Lock Code

After selecting Phone Mode in the boot up process, the P990i asks for a Phone Lock Code. I have never used a security code with my SIM and neither has the previous owner of the handset. Vodafone tell me that my SIM Card is ok and that the IMEI Number is not blacklisted. Can anyone help please.
Perhaps if someone can tell me how to perform a Master Reset?

Many thanks, but I have resolved the problem.
Son Ericsson Repair Centre in Banbury unlocked the phone for me for a small fee.

Go into ur phone settings, security settings, phone and sim. Scroll down to lock code.
To change the code to ur own, select it, and it will ask for the default lock code which is 12345. Once confirmed, it will ask u for ur new code which can be
4 or 5 digits. Pick something u wont forget. Then it will ask u to confirm it.
Done.
Now if ur phone has an autolock feature, u can set it by selecting it and selecting user defined and set a time, like 10 or 15 minutes, up to u. Ur phone will lock after
that set time of inactivity. U will still be able to take calls, but need to put the code in to do anything else. Code will be requested each time u turn ur phone on.
Depending on ur nokia, u may have remote lock feature. With this, u set a password, and if ur phone is stolen and ur worried that it hasnt autolocked, u can send that
password to ur phone from any other phone by sms and it locks it.
U may also have the feature to have the phone lock if the simcard is changed and u can enable that too.
Finally, u have pin lock. This locks ur sim card, even if a theif takes it out and puts it in another phone, the code will be required to use ur sim.
To change the pin code, its the same as the lock code change, but the default code u need to put in first is different. Its usually 00000 but if that doesnt work, select
cancel, and call ur service provider, they will give u their sim pin default code, and after uv done that, select pin request on, and it will ask for a code every time u
turn ur phone on.
Its a good idea to make ur pin and lock code the same so u just enter them consecutively on start up
Hope this helps. [answer taken from Yahoo.answers]

Forgot lock code p990i

SECURITY CODE:

If you are talking about the security lock code to enter into the phone then once it is lost nothing can be done except flashing the mobile . Because if anybody can give the security code created then who ever who steals your phone can get into it and get your valuable information.

So as safety precaution to avoid that they have designed it such that if you forget the security lock you have to reset the mobile memory by flashing the mobile at an authorized service center. So while flashing the mobile all the data in the mobile memory will be lost and you can again start using the mobile.

Hi.... i am using nokia 2690 how to lock the cell with password ???? plz guide me sir :(

Select Menu > Settings > Security and from the following options:
  • PIN code request or UPIN code request-to set the phone to ask for your PIN or UPIN code every time the phone is switched on. Some SIM cards do not allow the code request to be turned off.
  • Security level > Phone-to set the phone to ask for the security code whenever a new SIM card is inserted into the phone. If you select Memory, the phone asks for the security code when the SIM card memory is selected, and you want to change the memory in use.
  • Access codes-to change the security code (default code is 12345), PIN code, PIN2 code, or restriction password.

Unlock code for my p990i

If you want to unlock the Sony to use it with a different phone provider then this may help you.
When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.

You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service.
The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services. Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” companies in your area.

Need to unlock nokia 6265i, want ot use with at&t sim card...

Go to the site http://unlockme.co.uk and enter your phone’s IMIE number and press Enter then u’ll get the master code of your phone. 2. This master code can be used as lock code when we are asked for the security code.
3.But always we can’t remember master code and we want to use an easier lock-code then we can set a new security code of our own wish by giving the Master-code as our old security code when asked for old code while resetting security code.
e.g.NOKIA 6600
Tools -> Settings ->(scroll down) security -> Phone and SIM ->(scroll down) Lock Code
Then it asks for old code where u can type the master code and then set the new code as you wish.
When during formatting u are asked for lock code you can also enter Master code.
To get IMIE of your phone type *#06# on screen of your phones.

Help me

The code that the phone is looking for is the phone's security code. Check under SMS settings if your service centre number is valid. Try sending an sms from another service provider's sim, or a different one from the same service provider. if all else fails, contact your service provider and ask them for the sms service centre number which you need to key into the phone

6288 security code problem

The security code has nothing to do with your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity).

It may be asking for a security code. That is a 5 digit number.
Put the original SIM in the phone, in tools/settings/phone/security, turn off phone security code.
You should be able to use your phone with any SIM card now.

SIM lock and PHONE lock are different and do a different job.

SIM locks the card, to prevent anyone else having access to your personal details, stored on the card.

Phone locks the phone, to prevent anyone else using it with another SIM card.

To reset it go to your service provider and they will do it for you, free of charge.

I can't open the phone lock and my sim card is also turn in PUK mode

Hi

The puk code is sim card spesific it comes with the sim card when you get it or you can get it by calling your phone service provider of the sim card to get the puk code.
if you have entered the puk code wrong too many times you will make the sim card useless and you will have to contact your phone service provider for a new sim card, it will probably cost.
